Applications are invited for the following post tenable at Mumbai :

1.

SCIENTIFIC ASSISTANT (B) : One Post [Unreserved] ; Pay Band (PB-2)  Rs.9300-34800 + Grade Pay : Rs.4200/- ; TME :  Rs.26,851/- ;  HQ : Mumbai. Qualification : i) S.S.C./H.S.C. and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 60% marks. (ii) Knowledge of use of personal computers and its applications. Experience : 2 years experience in R & D Labs or Fabrication jobs in industry. Desirable : Experience in cryogenics. Job Requirements : The selected candidate will be required to work on the cryogenic systems, vacuum systems and provide engineering support for mechanical subsystems of the accelerator facility.  He/She will be responsible for operating a closed cycle helium refrigerator and associated helium distribution system.  In addition to the operation and maintenance work, the candidate will also work for R&D of accelerator upgradation.  The job involves working in 24x7 shifts throughout the year. TME : Total Monthly Emoluments. 

Higher starting salary could be considered for deserving candidate. Candidate is liable to be transferred to other Centres/Field Stations of the Institute, if required.

General Information : Appointment for the above post will be initially for a period of three years, including probation period of one year. Continuing appointment beyond the initial period of three years will be subject to the results of a comprehensive review and performance appraisal. After successful review, the appointment is continued till superannuation age, which is sixty.

Prescribed age should not exceed as on July 1, 2011.
