SPECIALIZATION/SKILLS: With skills in conducting
analytical tasks and sample processing/preparation in a chemical laboratory.

BASIC PURPOSE: The successful candidate will
assist in developing and implementing analytical methodologies for rice
phenotyping for non-structural carbohydrates and antioxidants.
ROLES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist in developing sample processing and
homogeneity control for Near Infrared Spectrometry (NIR) based analyses of
soluble and insoluble sugars in rice plant tissue, in collaboration with ASL;
2. Assist in developing high
throughput sampling and analysis methods of natural antioxidants in rice plant
tissue using the ORAC assay (fluorescence spectroscopy on microplates);
3. Perform all other related
duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATION
REQUIREMENT:
• College graduate in a field
related to organic chemistry, agricultural chemistry or molecular biology
• At least 1 year laboratory
experience
