JOB DESCRIPTION/EXPERIENCE:  Candidates should have experience in Molecular Biology, tissue culture and biochemical techniques (e.g. cloning, expression, purification, mutagenesis etc.) Candidates should also have experience in designing and synthesis of small molecules such as inhibitors etc and their characterization. Experience on cell culture assays will also be considered.   
EMOLUMENTS: The Selected candidates will draw consolidated emoluments as per instituteÂ’s rules.
Research Associate - Rs. 23,000 + 30% HRA
Junior Research Fellow - Rs. 16,000/- + 30% HRA
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. The posts exist in sponsored projects and are purely temporary. There shall be no claim for regularisation against any core posts of the Institute.
2.   The candidates selected for the above posts will be on contract for one year or duration of the project whichever is shorter, at a time.
3.     No hostel/ housing facility will be provided.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
A National Workshop, on the theme “Women in Scientific Research – Examining the Challenges and Identifying their Needs” will be held at Gauhati University. The objective of the workshop is to comprehend and record the different situations most working women confront in day-to-day life. This in turn is expected to facilitate an understanding of the different challenges women scientists face in pursuing their professions and allow a discussion on the ‘real’ requirements of women scientists/ professionals in the contemporary age of liberalization and globalization. The challenges faced by women scientists are much the same as those faced by most working women, and it is hoped that this workshop on examination of challenges and identification of needs may benefit all those women who aspire to have a meaningful professional career. The intention of the workshop is to provide a platform for analysis, which may offer pathways for converting challenges into opportunities. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE Participant may be any member of society who is (i) interested in the issue, (ii) social thinker, (iii) working woman, (iv) student, (v) research scholar, (vi) teacher, (vii) woman scientist, and/ or (viii) policy planner/ maker. Women, who could not pursue their careers (in any specialization or training) even after adequate education, are specially invited to participate and share their thoughts on this issue, which might help in providing useful solutions to this current global problem. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The work will involve protein cloning, expression, purification, crystallisation and any other research related duties assigned as and when required. Experience in one or more of these will be an added advantage. Preference will be given to one who has extensive experience in molecular biology (cloning and protein expression in E. Coli). An aptitude for learning new techniques is a must.

SALARY: Rs. 12,000/- p.m. (consolidated).
