Scientific manager(Watersheds) at ICRISAT, Patancheru, Hyderabad

POST: Manager, Watersheds
RESPONSIBILITIES: Integration of management, development, and research aspects of on-farm and on-station watersheds.  Good knowledge and skills in the integrated watershed management concept, engineering aspects of watershed development including topographic survey, construction of rainwater harvesting structures, preparation of GIS maps, and preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs) and conduct of research trials in the areas of soil, water, and nutrient management. The incumbent is expected to travel extensively to watershed sites in India.
DESIRED CANDIDATE’S PROFILE: The candidate should have MSc in Agricultural Engineering with a minimum 15 years of hands-on experience in reputed research institution. Degree/Diploma in Agricultural Engineering with 20 years of relevant experience will be considered. Incumbent should be well versed with handling and management of various instruments used in the watersheds such as total survey station, runoff and soil loss recorders, groundwater  level meters, pressure plates, soil moisture measuring devices like neutron probes and TDR, etc. Good data handling and processing computer skills are essential. The person must have good proficiency in English writing and communication skills; knowledge of more Indian languages will be an added advantage. Candidate with evidence of good quality Publications in the area of watershed management will be preferred.

ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the positions of  Manager, Soil and Plant Analytical Laboratory, as part of a continuing expansion in the institute’s commitment to the development and use of watershed technology.  These positions are based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh.

Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (inStem), an autonomous Institute established by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, at Bangalore, invites applications from suitable candidates for a Research Scientist/Scientific Manager to establish and manage a Stem Cell Engineering Facility (SCEF).
POST: Scientific Manager: Stem Cell Engineering Facility
DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of Prof. J. Dhawan, inStem and Collaborative Scientific Chair Prof. B.Burgering, University Medical Center Utrecht, Netherlands, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the newly developed mammalian Stem Cell Engineering Facility (SCEF). Specifically, we are looking for an experienced person to implement state-of-the-art instrumentation and methodology to apply lentiviral expression systems for over-expression and shRNA-mediated knockdown in mouse and human stem cells. The person will be expected to travel between Utrecht and inStem as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Management and supervision of all the activities performed in the SCEF and in consultation with Prof Dhawan and Burgering developing a research line on stem cell quiescence or related subject.
• Maintaining a large library of mouse and human shRNA lentiviral constructs.
• Generating and expressing tagged full length expression constructs in lentiviruses for a variety of human and mouse proteins –mostly transcription factors and chromatin modulators.
• Designing and optimizing cellular assays for testing function of overexpression/knockdown in stem cells.
• Implementing standard protocols and procedures to be followed by staff of the SCEF,including biosafety for lentiviral production.
• Assisting in the design and implementation of genome-wide analysis of engineered stem cells.
• Training and assisting researchers to perform over expression and knockdowns in stem cells using lentivirus constructs
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ph.D. Degree in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genomics or equivalent.
• Postdoctoral experience preferred, with experience in lentiviral methods.
• Familiarity with mammalian stem cell isolation, culture, functional analysis.
• Familiarity with in vivo analysis of stem cells using FACS, histology

*Age is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates. Age may also be relaxed for departmental or project staff of TMC for the period of services rendered in TMC and in cases of exceptional merit and qualifications wherever applicable. The candidates belonging to reserved category should enclose an attested copy of Caste / Tribe certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format with their applications, failing which their applications will not be entertained. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

MD Pathology or Biochemistry with minimum 3yrs. experience or MBBS with Diploma in Clinical Pathology or Lab Medicine recognized by MCI and 8 years experience. Experience should be in a Large Multi disciplinary Diagnostic Laboratory/Blood Bank with some part of the work experience in an Accredited lab. The incumbent should be well versed in routine Clinical Pathology, Basic Hematology and Clinical Biochemistry reporting,
Accreditation norms and Quality systems. The selected candidate will require to manage round the clock Diagnostic laboratory services of the centre.

Graduate in any discipline with Masters in Business Administration/Personnel  Management/HRD/Industrial relation/Material Management/Social work. Candidate should have at least 5 yrs. Experience and working in a multidiscipline large Hospital/ R&D/Central Government in a Supervisory capacity. Thorough knowledge of General Financial Rules/Fundamental Rules/Supplementary Rules is essential.

Candidates with lower percentage will be considered for interview if there are no other applicants with the above mentioned experience.

Selected candidates for any of these posts may have to routinely perform night/emergency/ weekend / rotation duties or may be required to stay in the campus accommodation.

GENERAL CONDITIONS
Applications in the prescribed format along with a recent passport size photograph affixed on the right hand top corner with attested copies of certificates and non-refundable demand draft / banker’s cheque should be forwarded to the Senior Administrative Officer, Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research & Education in Cancer, Sector – 22, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai-410210 so as to reach on or before 31st December, 2011. Persons working in Central / State Government / Other Public Sector Undertakings should submit their applications through proper channel.
The qualifications and experience prescribed above are the minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle any candidates to be called for interview. Where the number of applications received in response to the advertisement is more, it will not be convenient or possible for the Centre to call all candidates for interview The number may be restricted to a reasonable limit on the basis of the qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Canvassing in any form will be treated as a disqualification for the post.
SC/ST/Physically Handicapped category candidates called for interview will be reimbursed second class railway fare (other than Rajdhani/Shatabdi/Janashatabdi trains) by shortest route from their place of normal residence in India and back only on production of tickets /evidence indicating class of journey.
It is not necessary that all the advertised posts will be filled. The Centre may upgrade or downgrade the available post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate on the recommendations of the selection committee. Age limit, experience can be relaxed in the cases of exceptionally meritorious candidates as per rules. Higher start of pay by granting advance increment may also be considered by the Selection Committee.
