Admission to PhD Programme-2016 at ICGEB, New Delhi

Applications are invited from candidates for admission to the PhD Program (2016) of ICGEB in three streams: Molecular Medicine, Plant Biology and Integrative Biology.
The last date for submitting online application for admissions in ICGEB-JNU Ph.D. program 2016 has been extended till 15th May,2016
Minimum qualification:
(A) First class (60% or equivalent grade) M.Sc. in any branch of Science (e.g. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics etc) or M.Tech. or M.B.B.S. or M.V.Sc. or M.Pharm. or equivalent qualification recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, is required. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination this year may also apply; they will be admitted provisionally pending satisfactory fulfillment of the above requirements at the time of joining.
B) The applicant should have cleared any one of following examination: CSIR-UGC, ICMR, DBT (I), DST-INSPIRE, BINC or any other equivalent JRF examination and fellowships must be valid for at least four years.

(B) Print the online receipt and the admit card, generated after the successful online submission.

Job description and desired knowledge:
Our laboratory applies a multidisciplinary approach to address questions in the area of microbial interface biology and associated host immune response to the human pathogen Streptococcus pneumoniae. We are interested in host
-pathogen interaction, infection and immunity,
and vaccine development. We combine immunological, molecular and genetic
approaches with in vitroand in vivo models for these studies.The candidate should be interested in applying his/ her skills in the field of immunology / molecular biology to human infectious diseases. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in immunology or infectious diseases and demonstrated expertise in animal models and should possess common experimental skills in immunology, molecular biology and cell biology. Prior experience in vaccine immunoogy is important but not necessary.
