Admission for Research Scholars Program - II – 2011

The CDFD (Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics) Hyderabad, is a premier institute in the country, which provides services in DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics and conducts basic research in different areas of modern molecular and cellular biology. The main themes of research at CDFD are:
Ø  Genetics
Ø  Molecular and Cellular Biology
Ø  Molecular Pathogenesis
Ø  Computational & Structural Biology

We invite applications from highly motivated candidates, willing to take up challenges in modern biology, for admissions to our Research Scholars program. Keeping in view the interdisciplinary nature of modern biology, we especially encourage persons from diverse backgrounds to apply. Those admitted as Research Scholars would be encouraged to apply for the Ph.D. program of Manipal University or University of Hyderabad.
ELIGIBILITY: M.B.B.S. or Masters degree in any branch of Science, Technology, or Agriculture from a recognized University / Institute. Candidates who have not completed their final year / fourth semester examination are not eligible. Candidates (other than MBBS graduates) must have cleared the CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/ICAR NET for JRF or GATE (All India Top 100 Ranks of all the streams) or JEST. MBBS candidates are exempted from any of the eligibility tests mentioned herein. However, only those candidates will be considered who produce proof of having cleared the CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/ICAR NET JRF or have qualified BINC examination conducted by the DBT with fellowship or GATE (All India Top 100 Ranks) or JEST. Admission to CDFD.Research Scholars program is based on a 2-tier system involving a written / LAN based examination followed by interview of candidates who have qualified the written / LAN based examination followed by interview of candidates who have qualified the written / LAN based examination.

In the case of candidates whose JRF examination results are announced before the written / LAN based examination of CDFD takes place, and have qualified the NET with fellowship are also eligible to appear for the CDFD examination upon furnishing the relevant details of having cleared the JRF/NET with fellowship under "SPOT REGISTRATION" Category.
Interested candidates who fulfill the above conditions may register their names for RESEARCH SCHOLARS PROGRAM - II - 2011by applying in the prescribed application form online. Complete the application form online at http://www.cdfd.org.in and take the print out of the filled form. Applications may also be made on plain paper as per the format displayed on our website. The printout of the completed application form alongwith the certificates in support of Date of Birth, Educational qualifications, Caste and NET fellowship etc., should be sent to "The Head - Administration, Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), Office Block: 2nd Floor, Bldg.7, Gruhakalpa, 5-4-399/B, M. J. Road, Nampally, Hyderabad - 500 001".
All the candidates who apply online should also send the printout of the application, failing which the online application shall be rejected.
The Online facility of application will open on 10.10.2011 and will be closed on 25.11.2011.
The last date for receipt of the printout of the applications is 30.11.2011 2011 and applications received after 30.11.2011 are liable to be rejected.
The list of shortlisted candidates for the LAN examination will be displayed on our website on 08.12.2011. The Individual Admit Card / Hall Ticket with details of user name, password, venue of the examination and time will be sent through e-mail. No individual intimation letter would be sent.
Eligible candidates will be called for Computer based LAN examination on 16.01.2012. Those who qualify the LAN based examination will be interviewed on 17.01.2012.
No TA/DA will be paid. Director, CDFD reserves the right to accept / reject any or all applications without assigning any reasons whatsoever.

The above positions are purely temporary and on coterminus basis for the period of the project. The ISSRF has instituted following awards. The applications/nominations for various awards should to addressed to the President, Indian Society for the Study of Reproduction & Fertility (ISSRF), Centre for Advanced Studies, Department of Zoology, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur – 302 004. Founder-President Dr. T. C. Anand Kumar Memorial Oration
“Founder President Dr. T. C. Anand Kumar Memorial Oration” to be conferred to an Indian scientist for outstanding research in the area of reproductive health. The award in the form of Gold Medal and Citation, is conferred each year, during the annual conference of the ISSRF.
Dr. T. C. Anand Kumar was founder president of ISSRF, and a distinguished reproductive biologist of our country. His research contributions in this field have been widely acclaimed, both in India and outside. The award has been instituted in acknowledgement of his efforts to promote the discipline of reproductive biology in the country.
Nominations for this award are invited from distinguished scientists. Self nominations will also be considered. The research work carried out by the nominee should demonstrate novelty and/or its utility in the betterment of reproductive health. The interested scientists should provide three copies of the complete bio-data, including summary of the research work pursued and complete list of publications in the attached format. The purpose of the award is to recognize and further encourage the research work of those who, in the opinion of the selection committee, have contributed towards the solution of India’s population problem. The work in various fields such as physiology, immunology, pharmacology, clinical and social work as well as demography is important in contributing towards solution of the population problem.
