APPLICATION OF COMPUTATIONAL STATISTICS IN BIOLOGY AND MEDICINE

INTRODUCTION :
School of Medical Science and Technology is organizing National Workshop on Biostatistics: Applications of Computational Statistics in Medicine & Biology (ACSMB - 2011) between September 08-10, 2011 as a part of Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. This workshop will provide an introduction to computational statistics, with special emphasis on statistical methods and software for addressing high-dimensional inference problems that arise in present biological and medical research. ACSMB-2011 is mainly designed to train researchers, young faculty and post graduates in applying various statistical methods, using softwares and databases to effectively handle clinical and biological data.
It gives us immense pleasure to invite you to ACSMB-2011. There will be a full schedule of invited lectures, hands on training session as well as discussion platforms covering a wide variety of topics in Biostatistics and Bioinformatics.

ACCOMODATION :

RELAXATION: The qualifications, age and experience can be relaxed in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates with the approval of DG, CSIR.
Candidate: Should be creative, innovative and a well-recognized scientist/technologist having a demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary R&D teams with excellent interpersonal relations. The candidate should be able to create a conducive environment for nurturing high class research and development.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director shall supervise and exercise administrative control on the staff of the institute and shall be responsible for (i) realizing the mission of the institute and (ii) creating an environment in the institute conducive to nurturing of innovation and high class R&D and other S&T activities of the institute.
APPOINTMENT: The appointment to the post of Director will be made for a tenure of six years or till the age of superannuation which ever is earlier in the revised pay scale of ` 67,000(annual increment @ 3%)-79,000/HAG plus allowances. In deserving cases, the tenure can be extended by another term of six years or till the age of superannuation whichever is earlier. The provision to share the money realized from external contract R&D, consultancy and rendering of S&T services is also available as per extant rules. Residential accommodation and transport are provided as per rules. In addition medical, LTC and other facilities are provided as per CSIR rules.
