SPECIALIZATION/SKILLS: Proficiency in statistical programming (i.e R, SAS) and system maintenance; Ability to understand consultee's problems and make suggestions for appropriate solutions, ability in training scientists and researchers on quantitativr genetics/statistical concepts and theories and their applications to agricultural research; Ability to acquire and learn new methods and techniques through self-study, good interpersonal and human realtion skills, good oral and written communication skills.
BASIC PURPOSE :Provide quantitative genetics advice and assistance to all IRRI researchers and collaborators from other institutions
Develop training materials and delivers of qualitative genetic training to IRRI staff and researchers from collaborating institutions.
Conduct basic quantitative genetics analyses including linkage and association mapping.
Test analytical pipelines/packages for quantitative genetics analysis
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Consulting (30%)
Provides technical assistance and works closely with scientists and researchers, from within and outside IRRI, in all aspects of genetic design, analysis, and interpretation to ensure statiscally valid and sound research results.
 Develops R subscripts for non-routine genetic analyses to give researcher access to efficient and reliable analytical methods.
2. Training and Development of Courseware Materials (30%)
Design training courses and develops training materials (i.e., handouts, exercise and, slides)
Acts as resource person and delivers training in in-house and in-country training programs for NARS scientists
3. Testing analytical pipelines/packages for genetic analysis (30%)
Develops testing cases for testing the analytical pipelines/packages for qualitative genetics analysis
Conducts testing and prepare reports
4. Conducting other duties nay be assigned from time to time by supervisors. (10%)
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
BS in Plant/Animal Qualitative Genetics or Biometrics
At least 3 years experience in plant/animal genetic analysis or related areas
Knowledge of classical and modern genetic analysis methods.
