IICT invites applications from highly talented and research oriented candidates to join as Junior Research Fellow (JRF) to pursue PhD Program at IICT for the Academic Session starting from January 2012. A brief profile of research activities at IICT is given in the Annexure enclosed.
ELIGIBILITY: Candidates must fulfil the following eligibility criteria to be considered for selection to the Program.
I. First class M.Sc. degree or equivalent in Chemical or Biological sciences.
AND
II. Qualified in CSIR/UGC-NET Examination with a valid Rank OR a valid DST INSPIRE/ ICMR Fellowship in one of the above disciplines.
Please note that the candidates, who have passed CSIR-UGC-NET examination, under the Lectureship category only, are NOT eligible.

ACSIR PHD REGISTRATION:
All JRFs selected for the above Program shall be registered under the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) for pursing their PhD. Hence the candidates must also necessarily submit on-line application to AcSIR at http://csir-phd.csio.res.in. Last date for submitting online application is November 11, 2011.
FELLOWSHIP:
Candidates selected for the PhD Program at IICT shall draw their fellowship and other allowances, contingency etc., as per their respective fellowship schemes.
SELECTION:
Selection for admission to the Ph.D. Programme shall be on the basis of interview(s) to be conducted at IICT for the short listed candidates. The short list of candidates shall be prepared based on their choice of areas mentioned above. The interviews are likely to be conducted on December 7 to 8, 2011. Please note that as per the applicable norms no TA/DA shall be paid to the candidates appearing for the interview.

DBT Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biology & Biotechnology

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the award of “DBT-Postdoctoral Fellowship”(expected 8 Nos) for pursuing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology and applied Biology. The fellowship is tenable at UoH-DBT Centre for Research and Education in Biology and Biotechnology, (CREBB) School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad 500046,
ELIGIBILITY
The applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in Sciences, or M.D. or M.S. in any area of medicine with research interests in Biology and Biotechnology and possess a good academic record. Persons with publications in reputed scientific journals will be given preference. Those who have already submitted the Ph.D./M.D./M.S. thesis may also apply. The applicants should preferably be below the age of 40 years, and 45 years in case of women candidates. Persons already employed should apply through their employers.
DETAILS OF THE AWARD
The Postdoctoral fellowship is a purely temporary assignment and is tenable for a period of 2 years. In exceptional cases, depending upon the progress of the research, the fellowship may be extended, subject to availability of grant. Selected fellows, will be paid Rs 15000/- per month.
The fellowship is likely to be revised, after getting the approval of DBT. HRA, if applicable,would be paid, after getting the approval of DBT.
DUTIES & COMMITMENT
Candidates selected for the award are required to stay with the center for a minimum period of one year, failing which they may be required to refund the fellowship amount. The selected candidates are expected to participate in the academic activities of the center, besides conducting research under the guidance of a faculty member.
MODE OF SELECTION & APPLICATION
The candidates will be selected based on their C.V., publication record and performance in the interview. The interview will be held at the office of the Dean, School of Life Sciences,University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad – 500046, India. No reimbursement will be made towards their travel allowance. If the candidate accepts the fellowship, he/she must join the University within a month’s time. Candidates may submit their applications on a plain paper along with biodata,list of publications (attach reprints of 2 important papers), copies of certificates (B.Sc./M.Sc/Ph.D./M.D./M.S.), one page synopsis of their thesis, 2 letters of recommendation (academic). The applicant is advised to propose a research project, compatible with the on-going research in School of Life Sciences availing the fellowship.
The applications along with necessary enclosures should reach Prof. A.S. Candidates who have applied earlier but not called for interview or not selected after interview may also apply.
