1. BIOCHROMATOGRAPHY: Biochemists, chemists with biology understanding, protein structure–function relation studies and chromatographic sciences including columns, fluid dynamics and other approaches.
2. PROTEOMICS: Knowledge in proteins, relevant chromatographic techniques, mass spectrometry, LC-MS and 2D-gel electrophoresis, bioinformatics.
3. FERMENTATION TECHNOLOGY: Expertise in taking the shake flask data of protein expression to fermenter-level, with parameter-optimization and monitoring protein production. This may involve different microorganisms – both prokaryotic and eukaryotic.
4. PROTEIN EXPRESSION: Expertise in molecular biology, expression systems – E. coli, yeast, mammalian cells and plant-systems (Lemna); Protein extraction and characterization.

ICRISAT is seeking an innovative, dynamic and creative Program Director who is a strong believer in partnerships to lead and manage the CGIAR Research Program on Grain Legumes. 
The Consultative Group for International Agriculture Research (CGIAR) Research Program on Grain Legumes (CRP 3.5) will apply modern crop improvement, agronomic management, seed systems interventions, up-scaling and out-scaling technologies/innovations, and related high-priority value-chain interventions to maximize the benefits that grain legumes offer to smallholder farmers, especially women, in developing countries. THE POSITION
The CRP Program Director will report to the Director General, ICRISAT/Chair of the CRP 3.5 Steering Committee, and will be based at ICRISAT’s Headquarters in Patancheru, near Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. The position is for an initial three-year period with the opportunity for renewal based on performance and availability of funding.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Develop a clear and shared vision for CRP 3.5 among all partners and stakeholders and communicate this vision to all stakeholders.
•Provide intellectual leadership to, and coordinate implementation of, the CRP.
•Develop strong partnerships among participating centers, partners and other stakeholders.
•Represent the CRP in international for a to ensure that the Grain Legumes program is highly visible and strongly supported by investors and other stakeholders.
•Guide fundraising efforts for the Grain Legumes CRP together with the Centers and other partners.
•Ensure that the CRP has well developed and articulated gender and capacity strengthening strategies, defined work plans, clear deliverables, and that the CRP meets its programmatic and financial targets.
THE PERSON:
•Demonstrated leadership qualities and track record in leading multicultural and multi-disciplinary teams and building partnerships for collaborative and cross-cutting research.
•At least 10 years of relevant experience, including research management experience, in an international, multi-disciplinary, and multi-cultural environment.
•PhD degree in a relevant discipline with a broad perspective on agriculture in the developing world and across the research for development agenda, particularly involving grain legumes.
•Proven fund-raising record.
•Demonstrated commitment to gender equity and diversity.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:Employment contract will be for an initial three-year term. Salary will be internationally competitive, paid in US dollars, and commensurate with experience. Scientist/Senior Scientist (Pigeonpea Breeding) at ICRISAT, Hyderabad

POST: Scientist/Senior Scientist (Pigeonpea Breeding)
ICRISAT seeks applications from nationals from the Asian countries for Scientist/ Senior Scientist  (Pigeonpea Breeding), in Scientific and Managerial Group (SMG) Cadre, to be based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India.
THE JOB: Develop improved breeding lines and varieties of pigeonpea; plan and execute experiments in crop improvement; analyze, summarize, and interpret the data of the experiments; prepare reports and papers for publication in the reputed journals; prepare project proposals for donor funding; and interact with partners and collaborate with experts from other disciplines and end users (farmers, traders, consumers, etc.) to add value to the crop and enhance livelihood opportunities for the poor in the SAT.
THE PERSON: Scientists with PhD degree from a reputed university in plant breeding and/or genetics, with a minimum five years of post-doctoral experience as plant breeder/geneticist at a research institute/university/private sector company. Knowledge of quantitative genetics theory and its application in practical plant breeding of self-pollinated/cross-pollinated crops and basic computer skills is essential. Theoretical knowledge of hybrid breeding and marker-aided selection in crop improvement will be an additional desirable requirement. Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Candidates should not be more than 40 years of age at the time of applying. The candidate should have aptitude to work as a member of interdisciplinary teams in multicultural environment, and should have the ability to interact with partner organizations.

Director position at NIRRH, Mumbai


INDIAN COUNCIL OF MEDICAL RESEARCH

Institutes/Centers including large number of field stations situated all over the country with state of art
infrastructural facilities. The post is with all India transfer liability under the Council.
(A) NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH IN REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH (NIRRH), MUMBAI.
The National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health, Mumbai is one of the leading research
Institute in the country working in the frontier areas of reproductive biology and contraception research.
Currently, the Institute is engaged in the different aspects of basic reproductive biology and contraception
research with special emphasis on endocrinology, immunology and neuroendocrinology. The Institute has
well equipped laboratories with sophisticated equipment and other infrastructural facilities for conducting
laboratory/clinical studies with connection to wide network of Human Reproduction Research Centres across the country. This is a senior level managerial position and the Director would be required to play the role of a team leader for different scientific groups which are engaged in the different aspects of reproduction research in formulation of research programmes/projects and organizing/co-ordinating the team work and overall management of Institute with a focus on translation & implementation research.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
(i) Postgraduate degree in medical subjects recognized by MCI or Doctorate degree in Life/Biological
Sciences or relevant Biological subjects or equivalent from a recognized university.
(ii) Fifteen years relevant experience in reproductive health areas in Life Sciences/Applied Biology/Obst.
& Gyne./Paediatrics/Medicine/Public Health etc. in a recognized institute(s) after obtaining essential qualification as at (i) above out of which at least 5 years in a managerial position to handle R&D projects independently in a team effectively and independent management of a Division/Institute.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION:
i) Additional Post doctoral research/teaching experience in the above mentioned subjects after MD/Ph.D.
degree.
ii) Knowledge of Computer Applications
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
This is a senior level managerial position where the Director would be expected to play the role of a
team leader for co-coordinating the research programmes of different scientific groups working in the Institute on various aspects of reproductive biology and contraception research and overall management of the Institute.
AGE LIMIT:
Not exceeding 52 years. Relaxable up to 5 years for Government servants and SC/ST/OBC candidates
in accordance with the instructions issued by the Department of Personnel & Training from time to time in this regard.

National Institute of Cholera & Enteric Diseases is one of the eminent ICMR institutes located in
Kolkata and is conducting research in the field of diarrheal disease/HIV/AIDS for the past 50 years. The
Institute has made a tremendous scientific endeavor to reduce mortality and morbidity due to diarrheal and other enteric diseases in the country. The Institute conducts basic and applied clinical and epidemiological research.
Essential qualification & Experience:
(i) Postgraduate degree in medical subjects recognized by MCI or Doctorate Degree in Life/Biological
Sciences or relevant biological subjects from a recognized University or equivalent. INDIAN COUNCIL OF MEDICAL RESEARCH

Indian Council of Medical Research is a premier medical research organization dealing with health research in various areas in collaboration with national and international agencies and through its 31
Institutes/Centers including large number of field stations situated all over the country with state of art
infrastructural facilities. The post is with all India transfer liability under the Council.
(B) NATIONAL CENTRE FOR DISEASE INFORMATICS AND RESEARCH (NCDIR), BANGALORE.
This permanent institute of ICMR has main objective of developing a national research data-base on
cancer, diabetes, CVD and stroke through recent advances in electronic information technology with a national collaborative network, so as to undertake aetiological, epidemiological, clinical and control research in these areas. The scope may expand as the centre evolves and as per the needs of the country. Information Technology that includes electronic capture of data, verification analysis and on line reporting involves extensive development of software application programmes and networking. This activity would constitute a major portion of the work to be undertaken by the centre.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
i) Postgraduate (MD/MS or equivalent) Degree in Medicine/Surgery/Pathology/Radiotherapy/P&SM or equivalent relevant medical subjects recognized by MCI from a recognized University or equivalent.
ii) Fifteen years research/teaching experience in Medicine/relevant to Chronic diseases like diabetes, Cardiovascular & Stroke, cancer and management of data base including verification analysis and online reporting etc. in a recognized institute(s) after obtaining essential qualification as at (i) above out of which at least 5 years in a managerial position to handle R&D projects independently in a team effectively and independent management of a Division/Institute. The incumbent is expected to provide vision leadership for smooth implementation of mandate of the center.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION:
i) Additional Post doctoral research or teaching experience in relevant subjects after MD/MS.
ii) Knowledge of Computer Applications
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
It is a top research management post involving multi disciplinary research using modern and recent advances in electronic information technology. It involves knowledge of medicine relevant to four major
chronic diseases to start with but may expand including aspects of patient care on one hand with  familiarity and skills in handling computer generated disease data bases and on the other to undertake research studies in epidemiology, laboratory or clinical settings. The incumbent will be expected to provide vision, high degree of coordination with super specialist physicians and ensure the overall smooth implementation of all the activeities of the centre in-keeping with the mission and specific functions of the centre. He/She will be required to provide policy inputs to Govt. of India and to interact with International experts or orgnizations. He/she should have leadership, management and administrative ability for taking overall responsibility for research and managerial functions within the framework of the ICMR system.
AGE LIMIT:
Not exceeding 52 years. Relaxable up to 5 years for Government servants and SC/ST/OBC candidates
in accordance with the instructions issued by the Department of Personnel & Training from time to time in this regard.
GENERAL RELAXATION CLAUSE:
Age, qualification and experience will be relaxable in deserving cases as mentioned in the Recruitment Rules of Health Research Scientists Cadre of ICMR, 2007 under Rule 14 and Note:2 – The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be as per the guidelines of Department of Personnel and Training from time to time. However, the prescribed age may be further relaxed in exceptional cases for experienced and qualified candidates.

THE JOB:
•Lead ICRISAT’s cereals breeding research and development targeting SADC countries, in improving sorghum and millets productivity and income generation in the ESA region
•Work with interdisciplinary team of scientists including molecular geneticists, pathologists, entomologists, agronomists, socio-economists, seed systems specialists and technology transfer experts from ICRISAT, National Agricultural Research Institutes and development partners
•Assist in genetic resources management of ICRISAT mandate crops, 
•Contribute to project development and resource mobilization for ICRISAT and partners involved in  sorghum and millets improvement and associated crop management.
•Contribute to CRP 3.6 and dryland cereals R4D activities
•Enhance capacity strengthening of partners in the region through degree and non-degree training.
THE PERSON:

•PhD degree in genetics and/or plant breeding with 5-10 years post-doctoral experience in crop breeding research, with an interest in both basic breeding research and development-oriented and on-farm research
•Sound knowledge of recurrent population improvement and hybrid breeding procedures
•Knowledge of quantitative genetics for optimizing selection programs, for refining heterotic grouping and performing combining ability analyses
•Knowledge of molecular marker applications for improving selection efficiency and enhancing targeted use of genetic diversity in the breeding program
•Strong statistical skills, knowledge of computer applications and software for data collection, management and analysis
•Working experience with sorghum, pearl millet and finger millet or other cereals
•Excellent in English (both spoken and written) essential, and  knowledge of Portuguese  desirable
•Good publication record, as evidenced by research papers in refereed journals
•Proven good track record in attracting project funding
•Experience in working with a wide range of stakeholders and interest to work in interdisciplinary team
•Experience with variety development and release as well as effective seed dissemination

THE JOB:
•Plan and execute R4D on regionally important diseases of cereals (sorghum and pearl millet) and legumes (groundnut) to address the knowledge gaps in epidemiology, pathogenic variability, host plant resistance and alternative disease management strategies.
•Develop disease management strategies
•Work with crop improvement scientists to develop improved cultivars with resistance to major disease in the region Organize and conduct multi-location disease nurseries.
•Organize and conduct on-farm trials and impart training to partner scientists and extension workers on integrated disease management.
•Analyze, summarize and interpret the data of the experiments conducted in laboratory, greenhouse and on station and on-farm trials.
•Prepare reports and research papers for publication in the reputed journals.
•Develop project proposal for donor funding.
THE PERSON:
•Must have a PhD from a reputed university in Plant Pathology with 5 to 10 years of post-doctoral experience as a plant pathologist at a research institute/university/private sector company.
•Knowledge of epidemiology, pathogenic variation and host plant resistance, and their application in crop improvement is essential.
•A proven record of conventional plant pathology, with knowledge and application of molecular techniques as evidenced by scientific publications in refereed journals.
•Knowledge in diseases modeling
•Theoretical knowledge of genetics and plant breeding is desirable
•Fluency in spoken and written English is essential, with good skills in French also.
•Should have aptitude to work collegially and collaboratively in diverse, multicultural environments.
•Willingness to travel in the region and globally.
