POST: Scientist/Senior Scientist (Pigeonpea Breeding)
ICRISAT seeks applications from nationals from the Asian countries for Scientist/ Senior Scientist  (Pigeonpea Breeding), in Scientific and Managerial Group (SMG) Cadre, to be based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India.
THE JOB: Develop improved breeding lines and varieties of pigeonpea; plan and execute experiments in crop improvement; analyze, summarize, and interpret the data of the experiments; prepare reports and papers for publication in the reputed journals; prepare project proposals for donor funding; and interact with partners and collaborate with experts from other disciplines and end users (farmers, traders, consumers, etc.) to add value to the crop and enhance livelihood opportunities for the poor in the SAT.
THE PERSON: Scientists with PhD degree from a reputed university in plant breeding and/or genetics, with a minimum five years of post-doctoral experience as plant breeder/geneticist at a research institute/university/private sector company. Knowledge of quantitative genetics theory and its application in practical plant breeding of self-pollinated/cross-pollinated crops and basic computer skills is essential. Theoretical knowledge of hybrid breeding and marker-aided selection in crop improvement will be an additional desirable requirement. Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Candidates should not be more than 40 years of age at the time of applying. The candidate should have aptitude to work as a member of interdisciplinary teams in multicultural environment, and should have the ability to interact with partner organizations.

 JOB DESCRIPTION & EXPERIENCE: Candidate should have experience in reproductive immunology, vaccine design, production of recombinant proteins and vaccine delivery systems.
Candidates should have experience in reproductive immunology, recombinant DNA technology and protein purification.

EMOLUMENTS
The selected candidates will draw consolidated emoluments as per Institute Rules. The selected candidates may be placed in any of the below categories depending upon qualification & Experience
Research Associate    -    Rs. 22, 000/- consolidated p.m. plus 30% HRA
Junior Research Fellow: Rs. 12,000/Rs./14,000/- per month plus 30 % HRA.
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1.         The post exists in sponsored project and is purely temporary. There shall be no claim for regularisation against any core posts of the Institute.
2.         The candidates selected for the above post will be on contract for one year or duration of the project whichever is shorter, at a time.
3.         No hostel/ housing facility will be provided.
4.         Applicants may clearly mention the category they belong to i.e. SC/ST/OBC/PH and attach documentary proof of the same.
5.         No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview if called for.
6.     Names of three referees should be provided along with their contact details

Specific assignments may include but would not be restricted to participation in ocean cruises, isolation, identification and preservation of microorganisms, take responsibilities in support of the laboratory in general.
