Postdoctoral Fellow position(Optogenetic Manipulation of Neuronal Activity in Behaving Mice) at National Institute of Mental Health, Bethesda

Optogenetic Manipulation and/or Multiple Single-unit Recording of Neuronal Activity in Behaving Mice
The National Institute of Mental Health, Bethesda, MD and surrounding area
POST: Postdoctoral Fellow
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), Section on Neural Gene Expression seeks to fill one (1) Postdoctoral Fellow position. Our laboratory explores the roles of oxytocin and vasopressin in learning and behavior in mice. The lab uses a variety of techniques including in situ hybridization, viral delivery of gene expression systems, transgenic, including conditional knockout, mice and behavioral assays. We wish to begin using optogenetic manipulation and/or multiple single-unit recording (e.g., of place cells) of neuronal activity of behaving mice to enhance our investigations. Candidates with a strong background in optogenetics and/or multiple single-unit recording techniques are encouraged to apply.
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants should have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and a maximum of 4 years of postdoctoral experience.
NIMH is a major research component of the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Health and Human Services, which have nationwide responsibility for improving the health and well being of all Americans.
