Ph.D positions at Dr. Zhumur’s Lab at Bose Institute
Prospective PhD candidates who are creative, highly motivated & willing to work in a multidisciplinary environment on challenging scientific projects are welcome to apply. The current projects are broadly based on microRNA, stem cells and disease biology involving both experimental and computational approaches.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCES:
Applicants interested to work on computational projects should have strong background in computer science/bioinformatics/statistics or any branch of biological sciences with sufficient skills in any of the programming languages (Perl/Java/R/C/C++). A background in computational genomics would be an advantage. Prior experience in using existing bioinformatic programs and tools for genome analysis, biological soft computing and pattern recognition, microarray data analysis, knowledge of public genomic databases & parsing data from databases is a plus. Strong programming skills are essential.
Applicants interested to work on experimental projects should have strong background in biotechnology or molecular biology with sufficient expertise in commonly used molecular biology tools as well as cell culturing techniques. Prior working experience with stem cell/microRNA would be an advantage.
Prospective candidates for PhD should have M.Sc/MTech and may have qualified JRF examination from any of the following Govt of India funding agencies- CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR or NET / GATE.
