Scientific Manager(Stem Cell Engineering Facility) post at Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine

Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine

Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (inStem), an autonomous Institute established by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, at Bangalore, invites applications from suitable candidates for a Research Scientist/Scientific Manager to establish and manage a Stem Cell Engineering Facility (SCEF).
POST: Scientific Manager: Stem Cell Engineering Facility

Dhawan, inStem and Collaborative Scientific Chair Prof. B.Burgering, University Medical Center Utrecht, Netherlands, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the newly developed mammalian Stem Cell Engineering Facility (SCEF). Specifically, we are looking for an experienced person to implement state-of-the-art instrumentation and methodology to apply lentiviral expression systems for over-expression and shRNA-mediated knockdown in mouse and human stem cells. The person will be expected to travel between Utrecht and inStem as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Management and supervision of all the activities performed in the SCEF and in consultation with Prof Dhawan and Burgering developing a research line on stem cell quiescence or related subject.
• Maintaining a large library of mouse and human shRNA lentiviral constructs.
• Generating and expressing tagged full length expression constructs in lentiviruses for a variety of human and mouse proteins –mostly transcription factors and chromatin modulators.
• Designing and optimizing cellular assays for testing function of overexpression/knockdown in stem cells.
• Implementing standard protocols and procedures to be followed by staff of the SCEF,including biosafety for lentiviral production.
• Assisting in the design and implementation of genome-wide analysis of engineered stem cells.
• Training and assisting researchers to perform over expression and knockdowns in stem cells using lentivirus constructs
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ph.D. Degree in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genomics or equivalent.
• Postdoctoral experience preferred, with experience in lentiviral methods.
• Familiarity with mammalian stem cell isolation, culture, functional analysis.
• Familiarity with in vivo analysis of stem cells using FACS, histology
• Applicants can be of any nationality
LANGUAGES:
• English both spoken and written is essential.
