POST: Senior Scientific Manager - Infection & Immunology
SALARY RANGE: £36672 to £48459 dependent on experience

The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is looking for an exceptional individual with a strong scientific background and management capabilities to lead the Infection & Immunology, Haematology & Clinical Chemistry area, which is a major component of MGP phenotyping.

This newly created role will be responsible for managing the team and accountable for planning throughput and delivering the required phenotyping data to the research community.  The postholder will also play a critical role in ensuring that potential scientific outputs of the MGP can be realised by working with Sanger faculty and external collaborators to drive and support high quality scientific publications using phenotyping data.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
The postholder will be required to have specialist scientific knowledge and experience at PhD level in Mouse Genetics (or in an area of interest to the MGP including but not limited to immunology, haematology, infection, developmental biology, metabolic sciences, in life phenotyping) or equivalent extensive experience.  He/she will also require:

Significant postdoctoral level research experience using the mouse as a model organism
Evidence of the ability to successfully implement and manage complex plans for scientific programmes
Strong record of accomplishment managing technical/professional groups
Proven success working in a multidisciplinary team
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build good working relationships and team spirit
Strong computing use skills              
Proven ability to successfully manage collaborative projects
Proven track record of leading publications and presentation of outcomes of work in prestigious conferences
IDEAL SKILLS
Experience of working on mouse mutant programmes and a background of managing people in a high throughput environment are desirable.
