The successful candidate provides
support to assistant scientist in laboratory in genotyping for introgression of
major QTL's for grain yield under drought in elite lines. The candidate shall
set up, operate and maintain laboratory equipment, make observations and record
observations in laboratory at IRRI.
DUTIES
1. Assist Assistant Scientist in
carrying foreground, flanking and background marker genotyping in the
laboratory at IRRI on F1, BC1, BC2 populations for identification of desired
plants with QTL's in each generation.
2. Assist Assistant Scientist in
pyramiding of major QTL's for grain yield under drought in elite background.
3. Extracts DNA, quantify DNA,
carry PCR, run and score gels, make other observations and record results.
4. Order supplies to maintain
inventories in the laboratory.
5. Perform other major duties
that may be assigned from time to time by the drought breeder.
QUALIFICATION
REQUIREMENT:
•2 years college education
•3 years experience on molecular
markers techniques
•Familiarity with use of PCR gels
•Good in oral and written English
communication
