The successful candidate shall lead the conceptualization, development, and upgrading of farmer-oriented web- and mobile phone-based decision tools - together with the associated conduct of field evaluation trials, training and development of promotional materials and documentation - for improved nutrient and crop management in rice-based systems.
DUTIES
• Lead the conceptualization, development, maintenance, documentation, and translation for farmer-oriented web- and mobile phone-based decision tools for improved nutrient and crop management of rice-based systems
• Coordinate with partners the implementation field trials to evaluate and refine the decision tools and use the findings from field trials to upgrade the decision tools
• Serve as a contact with public and private sector partners involved in the development, release, upgrading, and promotion of web- and mobile phone-based decision tools
• Devise training and promotional materials and serve as a resource person for training and orientation activities on Nutrient Manager and Crop Manager decision tools
• Perform all other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervising IRS
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• BS in Soil Science, Agronomy, or related field
• At least three (3) years of relevant field experience with rice-based systems
• Knowledge of data management and profiency in the use of MS Excel
• Good working knowledge of soil, nutrient, and crop management
• Knowledge of an experiemental design and experience with data analysis and statistical software is an advantage
• Good written communication skills
• Good training and presentation skills
