A 5-day National Workshop on “Simple Diagnostic Methods in Clinical Microbiology” will be held in the Department of Microbiology, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research, Pondicherry, from 29th November to 3rd December 2011. The workshop will cover simple diagnostic methods in Bacteriology, Virology, Immunology, Mycology and Parasitology with a primer on basic Molecular diagnostic techniques and is designed to train middle level faculty members, residents, and other personnel working in Medical Colleges, diagnostic laboratories and hospitals. There will also be a module on the diagnosis of the recent outbreak of H1N1 (swine variant) influenza using real time PCR.
The workshop will be primarily hands-on training, under the direct supervision of expert faculty in the field. The faculty will be drawn from the department, as well as other institutes of National repute.
Interested candidates are requested to send their brief resume for preliminary screening. They are also required to send their email ids for further reference and communication. The last date of receipt of application of the candidates with their resume is 25th October 2011. The selected candidates will be notified by 1st November. Selected candidates should send in their registration fee of Rs.6000/- (Rupees Five thousand only) which may be done so as a bank draft in the name of “Course Coordinator, Infectious Disease Workshop” payable at Pondicherry. This draft should be reaching us by the 15th of November to enable us to complete the arrangements on time. The cost of boarding and lodging is included in the registration fee which is non-refundable. Accommodation will be provided at the JIPMER Guest House or similar on a double room-sharing basis.
The number of participants will be restricted to 25.
