ADVERTISEMENT FOR SCIENTIST POSTIONS AT DST

Applications are invited from Indian citizens for filling up four posts of Scientist ‘C’ and one post of Scientist ‘F’ on direct recruitment basis in the Department of Science & Technology as per details given below :-


1.      NAME OF POST : Scientist 'C'

SCALE OF PAY : Rs. 15600-39100 (PB-3)+ Grade Pay Rs. 6600/-.

NO. OF VACANCIES: FOUR [03 Temporary posts in the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) Programme and 01 permanent post.]

(a) ESSENTIAL EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS :
Masters Degree in Natural / Agricultural Sciences or Bachelors Degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.

(b) DESIRABLE EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS :

Doctorate Degree in Natural /Agricultural Sciences or Masters Degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized University.

(c) EXPERIENCE:
Experience of four years in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions and / or Science and Technology organisations.

2.      NAME OF POST : Scientist 'F'

SCALE OF PAY : Rs. 37400-67000 (Grade Pay- Rs. 8900/-)

NO. OF VACANCIES: ONE

NATURE OF POST : Permanent

(a) ESSENTIAL EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION :
Masters Degree in Natural / Agricultural Sciences or Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.

(b) DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION :
Doctorate Degree in Natural / Agricultural Sciences or Masters Degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized University.

 (c) EXPERIENCE :
Experience of twelve years in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institution and / or Science and Technology organizations, out of which six years should be in managerial capacity for Science and Technology programme, planning, development and co-ordination.

AGE: Not exceeding 35 years in case of Scientist 'C' and 50 years in case of Scientist „F as on the last date for receipt of applications. Provided that
(i) there shall be no upper age limit in respect of the Scientists already working on regular basis in the Department.
(ii) the upper age limit in respect of the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, the Ex-service men, Other Backward Classes, Orthopaedically Handicapped and other special categories of persons shall be relaxable in accordance with the orders issued by the Central Government from time to time in this regard.
(iii) the controlling authority may relax the upper age limit in case of highly experienced candidates in specialized scientific areas.
Note: The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be closing date for receipt of application from candidates in India (and not the closing date prescribed for those in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu and Kashmir State, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Sub Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshdweep).
GENERAL

1. The number of posts to be filled may vary. The Department reserves the right to cancel the recruitment without assigning any reason.

2. The persons with disabilities shall be allowed to apply even if no vacancies are reserved for them. Such candidates will be considered for selection for appointment to the posts on general standard of merit.
3. The prescribed essential qualifications are minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. If the number of applications received in response to Advertisement is large, it will not be convenient or possible for the Assessment Board to interview all those candidates. So, the Department may restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable limit on the basis of desirable qualifications and / or experience prescribed in the advertisement as per the specific requirement of the Department. No correspondence will be entertained with candidates who are not called for interview / selected for appointment. CANVASSING IN ANY FORM WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF CANDIDATURE.
4. Outstation candidates called for interview will be paid to and fro second class rail fare by the shortest route.
5. The selected candidates are liable to serve anywhere in India and outside.
6. Experience will be counted after completion of essential academic qualifications. Completed degree of M.Tech will be counted as two years or the actual duration of the course, whichever is less, while a completed Doctorate degree will be counted as three years or the actual duration of the course, whichever is less, towards experience. In case, a candidate has obtained the above degree(s) while in service, only his service period will be counted towards experience and he will not get any additional weightage in experience for acquiring M.Tech. / Doctorate towards total period of experience.
7. HOW TO APPLY: Applications should be neatly typed on thick plain paper (A-4 size 210 x 297 mm) in the prescribed format given below.
(a) A self-addressed post-card with requisite stamp should be sent along with the completed application. Candidates should indicate in this card the Advertisement number and name of the post applied for. The applications will be acknowledged by the Department by returning this card to the candidates after indicating the Registration number allotted to the candidate. Candidates may note that no separate acknowledgement other than this card will be sent to them. Separate application forms should be filled and sent for different post.
(b) Candidates working in Government Departments / Public Sector Undertakings / Autonomous organisations should apply through proper channel.
(c) Copies of certificates in support of educational qualifications, date of birth, Disability, Community (in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates only) and experience should be attached with the application. Candidates will have to produce the original certificates as and when required.
(d) Applications received after the closing date or received incomplete in any respect are liable to be summarily rejected. No representation against such rejection will be entertained.
(e) Completed applications should be sent to Under Secretary (Rectt.), Department of Science and Technology, Technology Bhavan, New Mehrauli Road, New Delhi – 110016, by Registered Post in a cover superscribed “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF SCIENTIST ‘C’ for INSPIRE programme or SCIENTIST ‘C’ or SCIENTIST 'F' ”(Separate application forms should be filled by the candidates applying for different posts) within 30 days ( 45 days for those in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu and Kashmir State, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Sub Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshdweep) from the date of publication of this advertisement in the Employment News / Rozgar Samachar.
