POST: Visiting Scientist – Groundnut Genomics
The Person:
- PhD in Agricultural Biotechnology/ Genetics/ Plant Breeding preferably with 2-3 years of experience in genomics and molecular breeding
- Experience in fine mapping and QTL cloning
- Familiar with standard computational genomic analysis tools and emerging software platforms relevant to trait discovery and molecular breeding
- Good team player in cross-functional environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities:
- Genetic / genomic analyses of throughput genotyping / sequencing and phenotypic data for trait discovery and molecular breeding
- Develop SSR/SNP assays for high throughput screening of breeding material
- Processing, analyzing, and archiving large-scale genomic data sets, assessing data quality, conducting analyses, interpreting findings, and communicating findings to others including preparation of reports, presentations, posters and journal articles
- Assist in training breeders of the national agricultural research system
- Any other work assigned by the supervisor
The Reward:
This is a Visiting Scientist position with competitive salary and benefits package. The position is initially for three years, and extendable depending on project requirement and performance of the incumbent.
