Research Associate –Legumes Pathology at ICRISAT, Hyderabad


INTERNATIONAL CROP RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOR SEMI ARID TROPICS
POST: Research Associate –Legumes Pathology
ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the post of Research Associate –Legumes Pathology to be based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India. This is a nationally recruited position.
ICRISAT is a non-profit, apolitical, international organization for science-based agricultural development. Established in 1972, it is an Alliance of centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), and supported by more than 48 governments, foundations, and development banks. To reduce poverty, enhance crop productivity and food security and to protect the environment, ICRISAT research focuses on farming systems and crop improvement, management and utilization of sorghum, pearl millet, pigeonpea, chickpea, and groundnut in the semi-arid tropics. 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•To perform R&D on the effect of climate change on geographical distribution of diseases in grain legumes (chickpea and pigeonpea) and host x pathogen x environment interactions;
•To analyze, summarize and interpret the data of the experiments conducted in laboratory, greenhouse and field.
COMPETENCIES:
•Proficiency in English communication skills (both written and spoken);
•Proficiency in Computer skills (Ms- Office, data analysis);
•Should be a good team player and adaptable to working in multicultural team.
REQUIREMENTS:
•PhD degree in Plant Pathology from a recognized University with experience in host plant resistance and biochemical basis of host resistance to diseases;
•Knowledge of diseases in these legume crops in semi-arid tropics;
•Knowledge/experience in host plant resistance and biochemical and molecular mechanisms of host plant resistance to the diseases;
•The candidate should be well versed with the advanced plant pathological techniques used to study the biology of the pathogen and epidemiology of disease;
•Knowledge of the advanced statistical tools applied in plant pathology is required.
General: 
The position is for three years, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the Institute's continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.
