POST: Senior Research Fellow – Legumes Pathology

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•To work on the effect of climate change variables on diseases in grain legumes (chickpea and pigeonpea);

•To analyze, summarize and interpret the data of the experiments conducted in laboratory, greenhouse and field.

COMPETENCIES:

•Proficiency in English communication skills (both written and spoken);

•Proficiency in Computer skills (Ms- Office, data analysis);

•Should be a good team player and adaptable to working in multicultural team.

REQUIREMENTS:

•MSc degree in Plant Pathology/Biochemistry from a recognized University with experience in biochemical and molecular basis of host resistance to diseases;

•Knowledge of diseases in these legume crops in semi-arid tropics;

•Knowledge/experience in host plant resistance and biochemical and molecular mechanisms of host plant resistance to the diseases;

•The candidate should be well versed with the plant pathological techniques used to study the host x pathogen x environment interactions;

•Knowledge of the advanced statistical tools applied in plant pathology is additional advantage.

GENERAL: 

The position offers the opportunity for pursuing PhD thesis research work as a part of the on-going project.

The position is for three years, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the Institute's continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.
