POST: Senior Research Fellow –
Entomology
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•To work on effect of climate
change on geographical distribution and abundance of insect pests in grain
legumes, and the insect – host plant – environment interactions;
•To predict and map potential
changes in geographical distribution of insect-pests in grain legumes;
•To study the biochemical and
molecular interactions between insect pests x host plant x environment.
COMPETENCIES:
•Proficiency in English
communication skills (both written and spoken);
•Proficiency in Computer skills
(Ms- Office, data analysis);
•Should be a good team player and
adaptable to working in multicultural team.
REQUIREMENTS:
•MSc degrees in
Entomology/Biochemistry from a recognized University with related experience;
•Knowledge of grain legumes and
their pest problems in the semi-arid tropic;
•Knowledge of the effect of
climate change in crop protection and crop production;
•Sound knowledge of the effect of
climate change on host plant resistance and pest management.
GENERAL:
The position offers the
opportunity for pursuing PhD thesis research work as a part of the on-going
project.
The position is for three years,
renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the Institute's
continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation is offered for the
right candidate.
