CSIR seeks application for post of Director of CFRI and CECRI

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), established in 1942, is an autonomous Society whose President is the Prime Minister of India. An ensemble of 37 state-of-the art institutes, today, CSIR is amongst the foremost and largest publicly funded scientific and industrial research organizations in the world. CSIR expertise and experience is embodied in its more than 4,000 Scientists and 7,000 technical support personnel apart from about 8000 JRF/SRF/RA and project staff. CSIR publishes yearly about 4260 papers in internationally peer reviewed journals, holds about 550 patents & about 500 students get their Ph.D. annually from its institutions. Over the years, CSIR has served as a springboard for scientific and technological activities in a wide variety of S&T domains. CHEMICAL SCIENCES:
Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI), Karaikudi: is engaged in R&D in the domain of electrochemistry and electrochemical devices. Its programmes inter-alia cover Corrosion Science and Engineering, Electrochemical Materials Science, Functional Materials and Nanoscale Electrochemistry, Electrochemical Power Sources, Electrochemical Pollution Control, Electrochemicals, Electrodics and Electrocatalysis, Electrometallurgy, Industrial Metal Finishing, Computer Networking and Instrumentation electrohydrometallurgy, electropyrometallurgy, electrochemical instrumentation, electrodics, electrobiology, fuel cells and batteries. CECRI thus aims to play a catalytic role for stimulating the growth of electrochemical industry in the country.

BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES

Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore: The R&D activities of the institute are focused at developing food products and food processing technologies for optimal utilization of the country’s agricultural produce. It also aims: developing food processing machinery for indigenous food industry; packaging techniques for food materials and processed items; utilization of residual waste/by products of the food industry; and development of export-oriented value added products. CFTRI thus aims to play a catalytic role for stimulating the growth of food processing industry in the country.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in Natural Science/Masters Degree in Engineering/Health/Medical Sciences :
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION: Ph.D. in Engineering/Health/Medical Sciences
AGE: 45 years or above but not exceeding 58 years.
EXPERIENCE: 16 years of experience in Research and Development in the areas of the activities of the Laboratory/Institute and demonstrated excellence of leadership therein.
RELAXATION: The qualifications, age and experience can be relaxed in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates with the approval of DG, CSIR.
Candidate: Should be creative, innovative and a well-recognized scientist/technologist having a demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary R&D teams with excellent interpersonal relations. The candidate should be able to create a conducive environment for nurturing high class research and development.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director shall supervise and exercise administrative control on the staff of the institute and shall be responsible for (i) realizing the mission of the institute and (ii) creating an environment in the institute conducive to nurturing of innovation and high class R&D and other S&T activities of the institute.
APPOINTMENT: The appointment to the post of Director will be made for a tenure of six years or till the age of superannuation which ever is earlier in the revised pay scale of ` 67,000(annual increment @ 3%)-79,000/HAG plus allowances. In deserving cases, the tenure can be extended by another term of six years or till the age of superannuation whichever is earlier. The provision to share the money realized from external contract R&D, consultancy and rendering of S&T services is also available as per extant rules. Residential accommodation and transport are provided as per rules. In addition medical, LTC and other facilities are provided as per CSIR rules.
