Researcher(Crop Modeling) vacancy at African Rice Centre

AFRICAN RICE CENTRE
REF: IRS/24/RD/2011/10
POST: Researcher Crop Modeling
The researcher will be stationed in Cotonou, Benin.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate should have:
·         A Ph.D. degree in Plant Production, Crop Modelling or a relevant subject;
·         Minimal five years of relevant work experience, preferably in Africa;
·         Experience in the application and validation of crop growth models like CERESRice, ORYZA2000, WOFOST, EPIC, DSSAT, etc.;
·         Strong programming skills in C++, Fortran;
·         Communication skills in either English or French.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:
·         Experience in the integration of remote sensing derived data (such as crop phenology or Leaf Area Index) in crop modelling.
·         Experience in the use of GIS software like ArcGIS;
·         Scientific publication record;
·         Knowledge of rice production systems in Africa.
