POST: Research Associate II – Biopesticides
ICRISAT invites applications from Indian nationals for the post of Research Associate-Bio pesticides (RA II) to be based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India. This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position.
ICRISAT is a non-profit, apolitical, international organization for science-based agricultural development. Established in 1972, it is an Alliance of centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), and supported by more than 48 governments, foundations, and development banks. To reduce poverty, enhance crop productivity and food security and to protect the environment, ICRISAT research focuses on farming systems and crop improvement, management and utilization of sorghum, pearl millet, pigeonpea, chickpea, and groundnut in the semi-arid tropics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Executing field, laboratory and glasshouse experiments relevant to agriculturally beneficial microorganisms (particularly on pathogens of insect-pests) targeted at developing biological protocols of crop protection.
•Maintenance, multiplication and supply of insect (Helicoverpa) and microbial cultures.
•Maintain and update electronic databases and statistical analysis of experimental data.
•Assist the scientist in the preparation of technical reports.
•Any other responsibility that may be assigned by the scientist in furtherance of the cause of the institute.   
REQUIREMENTS:
•PhD. Microbiology/Bioscience with at least one year experience in secondary metabolite purification.
•Good proficiency in English communication skills (both written and spoken), an aptitude for research in integrated pest management (IPM) and the knowledge of using latest biochemical (including HPLC and other chromatographic) techniques will be an additive advantage.
PERIOD AND REMUNERATION:
The position is on a fixed term contract basis for 3 years, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation as permitted by DBT is offered for the right candidate.
