REQUIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications for the position are:
1) Bachelor's degree in communications, education, psychology, public health, or related; or four (4) year of related education and/or experience.
2) Five (5) years' experience working in the hospitality industry as an alcohol server, bartender and/or manager.
3) Knowledge of alcohol-related issues in an on-premise environment.
4) Proficient computer skills, including IBM compatible and windows environment, and ability to effectively navigate and interact within websites.
5) Must have reliable personal transportation to reach multiple sites in the metro area (mileage will be reimbursed and if applicable your driving record will be checked).

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include:
1 (10%) Recruiting research participants.
2 (5%) Obtaining informed consent from participants and answering questions regarding research protocols.
3 (50%) Representing the program by leading in-person trainings at on-premise alcohol establishments with managers and staff.
4 (20%) Advising and counseling project participants through an interactive website, in-person and by telephone.
5 (10%) Tracking participant activities for data collection and updating the database accordingly.
6 (5%) Collaborating with the research team regarding successes and challenges encountered in the field  
PROGRAM/UNIT DESCRIPTION
The Division of Epidemiology and Community Health in the School of Public Health, University of Minnesota, seeks a 75% time Community Program Specialist to assist in the implementation of an NIH-funded research grant that focuses on developing and evaluating a hybrid in-person and on-line training program for general managers of alcohol establishments. This is a temporary civil service position which is expected to last between 18 and 24 months.
