Clinical
Center, Bethesda, MD and surrounding area
POST: Post Doctoral
Fellow (Computer Science, Electrical and Biomedical Engineering)
The Center for Interventional
Oncology (CC & NCI) & the Interventional Radiology Research Laboratory
in the Radiology & Imaging Sciences Department of the Clinical Center has
postdoctoral fellowship openings for qualified candidates interested in
multidisciplinary translational research as part of a team of MD's, PhD's, and
MD/PhD's in interventional oncology. Our research group focuses on three areas
of interest: 1) Novel drug and device combinations, 2) Multi-modality image
fusion and technologies for image guided therapies, such as image guided
robotics or electromagnetic navigation, and 3) Novel tumor ablation and interventional
devices. Targeted minimally invasive therapies using image guidance are
essential tools for closing the gap between diagnosis and therapy. Integration
of these targeted therapies into the clinic is a main focus of our
translational research center.
Some examples of postdoctoral
research projects include: 1) Multimodality image fusion (e.g.
CT/MRI/X-ray/Ultrasound/PET), device tracking and real-time image processing
for tumor biopsy/ablation guidance, 2) Integration of medical robotics into
minimally invasive procedures, 3) Development of CT and/or ultrasound
thermometry for ablation monitoring, 4), Design, development and validation of
novel interventional devices (e.g. removable IVC filters or endovascular
devices), and 5) Investigation of novel guidance solutions in clinical trials.
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants should hold the PhD,
MD or MD/PhD degree. Preferred candidates are those with strong programming
skills in Java/C/C++, backgrounds in computer science, electrical engineering
or biomedical engineering and an interest in interventional radiology or
interventional oncology from a translational science perspective. Experience in
device tracking, image processing, and PCB design are desirable.
TO APPLY:
Interested applicants should
e-mail a CV, a cover letter outlining their research interest and three
