PostDoctoral Fellow ( Bio-behavioral Applications in Digestive Disorders) at National Insitute of Nursing Research, Bethesda

National Insitute of Nursing Research, Bethesda, MD and surrounding area
POST: Postdoctoral Fellow( Bio-behavioral Applications in Digestive Disorders)
The Bio-behavorial Unit seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow who will participate in our clinical and translational research program aiming to better understand the immuno-genetic mechanisms involved in symptom distress related to digestive and liver diseases, specifically the biobehavioral relationships between gut/ barrier function, inflammation, and patient symptoms. This research aims to identify genetic or other biologic/physiologic factors that predict patient-related clinical outcomes. Furthermore sex and gender differences are clinically evident, however have not been fully explained. The following aspects are included: Brain-Gut interactions in overweight and normal weight patients with chronic abdominal pain of unknown origin; immuno-genetic mechanisms involved in gastrointestinal symptom distress; and clinical and translational biobehavioral applications. Additional focus includes Brain-Gut Liver Axis and barrier function as well as the genetic mechanisms underlying altered miRNA and mRNA expression in digestive disorders.
Come and be a part of a collaborative translational research team with experts from gastroenterology, hepatology, nutrition, oncology, biology, and bio-statistics. Our team is dedicated to developing novel treatments and non-invasive interventions to improve and better understand pediatric gastrointestinal disorders. True bench to bedside research is aimed at linking the biologic/physiologic factors to patient related outcomes. Our protocols are aimed at discovery of the main biologic patterns and pathways that lead to unknown etiologies.
 Requirements:
Applicant should have a PhD degree, and/or an MD degree and less than 5 years of postdoctoral experience.
To Apply:
Email your CV, cover letter, and a brief statement of research interests, and the name with phone numbers of three references to Dr. Wendy A. Henderson, hendersw@mail.nih.gov
The NIH is dedicated to building a diverse community in its training and employment programs
