APPOINTMENT NOTICE
[Regular Non-Teaching Positions]
SIKKIM UNIVERSITY, a Central University located in peaceful and beautiful natural surroundings of Sikkim in Eastern Himalayan region, is being designed in such a way so as to make it known for academic excellence and research, for its all inclusive institutional character and a strong instrument of regional development and cross-border integration. The University is trying to bring in the best practices of academic programmes, teaching methods and curriculum designing and management system from both within and outside India and build modern environment friendly infrastructure.

SIKKIM UNIVERSITY has openings for various non-teaching management positions.
The essential qualifications, Pay Bands/Grade Pay, and reservations for the same positions are as follows:
DETAILS OF ESSENTIAL & DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
TECHNICAL ASSISTANT – Three Posts Unreserved(PB 2 in the scale of pay of Rs. 5200-20200 Grade Pay Rs. 2800)
Essential:
i. Three years degree course in any discipline from UGC-recognized University.
ii. Three years experience in laboratory of any reputed institution.
Desirable:
i. Certificate Course/Diploma from a recognized Institution or any other qualification in operation/maintenance etc. of laboratory based equipment/jobs recognized by the University.
Age limit: Maximum 35 years as on 01.01.2012.
LABORATORY ASSISTANT – Two Posts Unreserved(PB 2 in the scale of pay of Rs. 5200-20200 Grade Pay Rs. 2000)
Essential:
i. Passed Sr. Secondary School [10+2] Examination with Science subject or equivalent with Science.
ii. Having at least three years experience in handling sophisticated Scientific Appliances, Glassware, Chemicals and Instrumentations.
Desirable:
i. Graduation in Physics/Chemistry/Microbiology/Ethno botany/Floriculture/Geography/Computer application/Life Sciences.
Age limit: Maximum 35 years as on 01.01.2012.
LABORATORY ATTENDANT – Five Posts Unreserved, Two Posts Reserved for OBC & One Post Reserved for SC (PB 2 in the scale of pay of Rs. 5200-20200 Grade Pay Rs. 1800)
Essential:
i. Passed Sr. Secondary School [10+2] Examination with science subjects.
ii. Preference will be given to those who have experience of working in any Scientific Laboratory.
Age limit: Maximum 35 years as on 01.01.2012.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Applications are required to be submitted on the prescribed format only, which can be downloaded from the University website www.sikkimuniversity.in
The application fee of Rs 300/- (Rs 150 for SC/ST/DA candidates) is required to be submitted by way of Demand Draft of any Scheduled/Nationalized Bank, drawn in favour of “Sikkim University”, payable at Gangtok only. Applications received without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected.
Separate applications along with all the required documents as mentioned in the application form, addressed to The Registrar, Sikkim University, 6th Mile, Samdur, P.O. Tadong, Gangtok-737102, Sikkim with the post applied for clearly superscribed on the envelope, may be sent by Registered Post/Speed Post or submitted by hand.
The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. Where the number of applications received in response to an advertisement is large and it will not be convenient or possible to interview all the candidates, the University at its discretion may restrict the number of candidates to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications/experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.
