2012 Conference on Contemporary Issues and Applications of Statistics (CIAS2012)

WELCOME
Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, the founder of Indian Statistical Institute , emphasized the need of interdisciplinary research with statistics playing a pivotal role. Honouring his vision, Indian Statistical Institute is going to organize a conference on Contemporary Issues and Applications of Statistics during January 2-4, 2012 (CIAS2012). The goal of the conference is to bring together statisticians and other scientists engaged in inter-disciplinary research involving applications of Statistics from different parts of the world, and provide a platform for them to interact among themselves and to share their thoughts on recent developments in different areas of the subject. Success of the conference will definitely infuse further enthusiasm in statistical activities in India. Interested students, faculty and other researchers are welcome to participate.

Please send an extended abstract of your research paper (at most 500 words) by e-mail to the undersigned no later than 30 September 2011. All submissions will be refereed. Authors of accepted papers will be informed by 15 October 2011. The full paper must reach the organisers by 15 November 2011. Limited accommodation facility for outstation participants and domestic travel support for invited speakers will be provided as per the rules of the institute.

ACCOMODATION

Limited accomodation for outstation participants will be provided on a first come first served basis in accordance with the rules of the Indian Statistical Institute.
Information regarding local accomodation available and the procedure for applying for it, and other related details will be uploaded shortly on this page and will also be sent to the concerned participants.
Conference organizers regret their inability to assist participants in the booking of hotel accomodation, train and airline tickets.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Kolkata is located in eastern part of India and historically known for its traditional and vibrant culture. City attracts several places of tourist importance, for example: National Museum, Imperial period buildings and monuments, traditional and modern shopping malls to several educational Institutes.
Temperature during the conference period is around 10 -15 degrees C.
Organisers might plan a short local day tour within the city for conference participants. Information related to local tours will be updated when final program is ready.
Information for local accommodation requests, application procedure for lodging etc, for invited and other participants will be updated online and details will also be sent to concerned participants.
