Technical Officer /Scientific officer at AVRDC

POST: TECHNICAL/SCIENTIFIC OFFICER FOR AVRDC
PROJECT: “Improving vegetable production and consumption for sustainable rural livelihoods in Jharkhand and Punjab, India.”
THE JOB:
1.      Coordinate project monitoring and evaluation activities;
2.      Help organize training to strengthen the capacity of local partners to carry out research and extension activities for vegetable growers;
3.      Provide project administrative support such as procurement, payments and maintaining accounts in accordance to AVRDC’s policies and regulations;
4.      Assist in developing extension training materials and programs in coordination with project team members, and documenting success stories;
5.      Provide technical assistance in marketing, disseminating and promoting good practices and lessons learned from various project activities;
6.      Assist in the preparation of periodic progress reports, technical papers, and presentations for meetings, and annual reports as needed by project stakeholders.
THE PERSON: Master’s degree in agriculture or horticulture, preferably with advanced studies or training in vegetable crops and marketing; At least two years of related work experience; Good analytical skills and the ability to monitor and evaluate experimental trials; Strong writing and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi; Proficiency in the use of MS Office; Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver outputs within agreed time frames.
THE APPOINTMENT: A competitive all inclusive consolidated compensation will be paid based on experience and skills. The appointment is for 18 months at Ranchi, Jharkhand, India.
