The Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH) is a constituent R&D establishment of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) which is engaged in research in many different areas of modern biological sciences and microbe-related biotechnology, with special emphasis on research and development of an interdisciplinary nature, as exemplified by the broad areas, i.e. Microbiology, Protein Science & Engineering, Fermentation Science, Bio-informatics, Immunology and  Cell biology, Molecular Biology & genetics.

The Institute wishes to draw a Panel of Research Interns under “CSIR Diamond  Jubilee Research Interns Award Scheme”  to attract young and brilliant candidates to demonstrate their interest in Scientific Research as well as for qualifying and securing other research fellowships.  Panel  will be operative for a maximum period of one year from the date of interview,  Essential QRs and other condition for the position are as below :

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION: M.Sc. (1st Class) in the area of Biological Science/Chemistry.    

DESIRABLE: Medical Technical Training etc.

STIPEND:  Rs.15,000/-

DURATION:  Two years and not extendable.

AGE LIMIT:  25 years as on 11.05.2012(Relaxation in case of SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped will be as per GOI Rules).

The engagement for the above position is purely on temporary and contract basis for the period of duration of the Internship. Interns continuation in the scheme shall be reviewed after every six months and in case the performance is not satisfactory, the Internship can be terminated with one month’s notice or one months salary in lieu thereof without assigning any reasons.

SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME

Tezpur University is conducting a four week Summer Internship Programme in Physics, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Food Engineering and Technology, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication  Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Energy, English and Foreign Languages, Cultural Studies, Sociology, Mass Communication and Journalism, Hindi and Business Administration for outstanding students of undergraduate Programme from June 01, 2012 to June 28, 2012.

OBJECTIVES: Some of the main objectives for implementing this Programme is to introduce the young talents into research at an early stage, open up the university facilities to students of other institutions and give them opportunities to interact with the experienced faculty members of the university.

STIPEND: The selected students will be provided incidental expenses amounting to Rs.2000/- for the entire period.

ACCOMMODATION: THE INTERNS WILL BE PROVIDED ACCOMMODATION (DOUBLE/MULTI BEDDED ROOMS) IN THE university hostels. However, they will be required to bring their bedrolls and arrange for their food.

POSITION CODE: DJIA/RAB Number of Positions: 02 (Two)

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 60% marks in M Sc (Natural Sciences)/ MBA

DESIRABLE / ADDITIONAL SKILLS: Analytical, comprehension and writing skills, Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point etc) is a must and working knowledge of DBMS like My SQL etc is preferable. Some experience in Human Resource Management related activities is preferred.

JOB REQUIREMENT: Selected Interns would be required to assist the scientists in the various assignments related to Recruitment and Assessment of scientists in CSIR. Selected candidates will also be required to participate in studies on Human resource management with a focus on Recruitment and promotional policies.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION: Minimum 60% marks in MCA or BE/B. Tech (IT) or M. Sc. Natural Science with strong IT background.

JOB REQUIREMENT:

a. Formulation of policy including guidelines for foreign visits by CSIR Scientists and CSIR Hq. laboratories networking;

b. To develop and establish linkages through bilateral partners abroad (collaborative projects & exchange programs);

c. To scout for and encourage labs to develop bilateral/multilateral technical assistant projects/programmes;

d. Human Resource Development through international fellowships, study leave, training courses including equipment training;

e. Exploit CSIR trainer potential for the developing world.

3. Innovation Protection Unit (IPU), Delhi

POSITION CODE: DJIA/IPMD No of positions: 04 (four)

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION: Minimum 60% marks in M.Sc./BE/BTech in Molecular Biology, Bio-informatics, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Electrical/ Mechanical engg.

DESIRABLE/ADDITIONAL SKILLS (COMMON FOR ALL POSTS): Analytical, comprehension and writing skills Working knowledge of DBMS like My SQL, MS SQL, and programming languages like Visual Basic, PHP, ASP, etc.

Experience in IP related matters will be preferred.

JOB REQUIREMENT: Selected interns would be required to assist the scientists in the various assignments related to IP management. Selected candidates will be given an opportunity to have necessary hands-on training in the area of IP management.

GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR ALL THE ABOVE POSITIONS

(i) Eligibility: 1st class or equivalent GPA in the above mentioned degree examinations. (ii) Max. Age: 25 years as on 6th March 2012 (Relaxation up to 5 years in case of SC/ST/OBC, Physically Handicapped and Female candidates).

(iii) Stipend: Rs.15000/- per month (fixed) (iv) Tenure: Maximum two years from the date of joining and is not extendable under any circumstances. Performance of the interns will be reviewed every six month. In case the performance is not satisfactory, the internship will be terminated with one months notice or one months stipend in lieu thereof. During the internship period the intern would be free to appear for NET/GATE and secure regular fellowship for doing Ph. D. (v) Selection will be based on overall academic records and performance in the interview.

Science Writing Internships at Current Science

The Current Science Association has instituted Science Writing Internships for working in the editorial office of Current Science. The internships are awarded initially for a period of 6 months, extendable for a further period depending on performance.

QUALIFICATION: Candidates must possess a basic degree in any branch of science and show evidence of scientific writing skills in diverse areas of science. Those who possess a postgraduate degree in literature, journalism or mass communication can also apply.

AGE: Not more than 35 years as on 1 March 2012.

The candidates should not have any position (full time or part time) that entitles them to any remuneration.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Selected candidates will be based in Bangalore and will assist in the publication of the journal besides writing for the News, Research News and General sections of the journal.
