JRF posts (Value added and healthful texturized egg products) at CFTRI, Mysore

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for 2 [Two] positions of Junior Research Fellow on a temporary contractual basis in the research project entitled "Value added and healthful texturized egg products"funded by Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, tenable at Department of Meat, Fish & Poultry Technology, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysore.
 ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION: First Class Post-Graduate Degree in Science with Specilisation in Food Technology/Food Science/ Food Science & Nutrition/Food Processing/Food Chemistry/Microbiology/Biotechnology with good academic records and should have been qualified for lecturership in National Eligibility Test conducted by CSIR-UGC or GATE qualified.
EMOLUMENTS: Rs.12,000/- per month, HRA as per CSIR rules will also be paid,subject to approval by the funding agency.
TERMS & CONDITIONS:
1.Candidates should not have exceeded 28 years of age as on 15-06-2012, i.e. the last date of receipt of applications for the post.
2.The engagement of JRFs are exclusively for the above mentioned project.
3.The engagement will be contractual and on purely temporary basis in the project funded by MFPI, Govt. of India for a maximum period of two years and is co-terminus with the project, if the project terminates earlier.
4.The engagement under externally funded project does not confer any right/ claim whatsoever either explicitly or implicitly on the appointee for regular appointment in CSIR/ CFTRI, against any post or otherwise under any legal conditions or precedent.
5.No TA/DA will be given to the candidates for attending the interview.

Admission in M.Sc (Food Technology) at University of Mysore


M.SC. [FOOD TECHNOLOGY] ADMISSION
 Applications are invited for 2 year M.Sc. (Food Technology) Degree Course of the University of Mysore for the years 2012-2014.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Bachelor Degree in Science with Chemistry/Biochemistry as one of the subjects or Agriculture / Engineering / Technology. Mathematics as one of the subjects in Plus 2 or Pre-University or at Degree level is compulsory for admission.
Applicants may kindly see for eligibility criteria prior to applying, as the Bank Demand Draft of  Rs.500/- is non-refundable.
MINIMUM MARKS REQUIREMENT :
(i) 55% in optional subjects of B.Sc. pass course (50% for SC / ST category)

(iii) Minimum second class for Agriculture / Engineering / Technology
ENTRANCE / APTITUDE TEST:

To assist the IRRI postharvest team and project partners in the conduction of collecting samples in markets, mycotoxin experiments and analysis of samples and contribute to the development of a mycotoxin reduction strategy. The duration of this project will be 12 months.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in developing mycotoxin detection techniques that are applicable at farmers’ fields
• Assist in conducting experiments at IRRI using appropriate experimental design and statistical analysis
• Assist in developing a mycotoxin reduction strategy
• Take samples in selected markets and analyze samples taken in the markets in laboratory trials
• Contribute to data analysis and reporting
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• MS or BS in Plant Pathology, Microbiology, or Food technology
• 4 years demonstrated working experience in related fields
• Written and spoken English
