NIAB, an autonomous institute under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is aimed to harness novel and emerging biotechnologies and create knowledge in the cutting edge areas for improving animal health and productivity. The Institute’s research focus will be animal genetics and genomics, transgenic technology, reproductive technology, infectious diseases, nutritional enrichment, and bioinformatics. The Institute aims at translational research leading to genetic enhancement of Indian Livestock species and development of novel vaccines, diagnostics and improved therapeutic molecules for farm animals. The Institute plans to promote bio entrepreneurship by providing supportive and stimulating academic and creative environment for commercial tenants involved in the development of farm animal based products and services.
NIAB is looking for Senior, Mid-career and Young Scientists with outstanding record of research accomplishments, as documented by publications in leading peer-reviewed journals. NIAB is looking for dedicated and committed Scientists who believe in institution building and have a passion for academic excellence and quality research. NIAB invites applications for Scientific Positions on Regular basis in the following priority areas:
1. Genetic Epidemiology,
2. Bioinformatics,
3. Transgenic Technology, and
4. Infectious Diseases.
Outstanding scientists in other related areas also will be considered.
Requirements:
NIAB invites applications for the following scientific positions:
1. Scientist – H (1 Post)
A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs. 67,000 – 79,000
B) Essential Qualifications:
i. Ph.D. in the relevant area with a strong track record in research, academic accomplishment in terms of publications and patents and attracting generous research funding.
ii. Evidence of leadership with 15 years of R&D experience in any one of the above areas.
iii. Should have position at Scientist-F/G/Professor level in Government/ statutory/ autonomous institutions/ universities or equivalent in non-government institutes.
C) Responsibilities: Lead a group of scientists in the identified area, establish centres of excellence, help the Director in the general administration of the Institute and develop an ecosystem for communication, creative thinking and innovation.
D) Age: 55 years
2. Scientist – G (1 Post)
A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs. 37,400 – 67,000 +10,000 G.P
B) Essential Qualifications:
i. Ph.D. in the relevant area with a strong track record in peer reviewed funding, research and academic accomplishment in terms of publications and patents.
ii. Evidence of leadership with 10 years of R&D experience in any one of the above areas.
C) Responsibilities: Lead a group of scientists in the identified area and establish centres of excellence to address the problems in livestock.
D) Age: 50 Years
3. Scientist – F (2 Posts)
A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs. 37,400 – 67,000 + 8,900 G.P
B) Essential Qualifications:
M.Sc. / B.V.Sc /M.B.B.S /B.Tech /B.E. or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 12 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas
OR
Ph.D. /M.V.Sc. / M.Tech. or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 7 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas.
C) Responsibilities: Lead a group of scientists in the identified area and establish centres of excellence to address the problems in livestock.
D) Age: 50 Years
4. Scientist –E (2 Posts)
A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs. 37,400 – 67,000 + 8,700 G.P
B) Essential Qualifications:
M.Sc. / B.V.Sc /M.B.B.S /B.Tech /B.E. or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 10 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas
OR
Ph.D./M.V.Sc./M.Tech. or its equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 5 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas.
C) Responsibilities: To conduct research in the specified area and execute them with the help of team members to create knowledge and develop technologies for improving animal health and productivity.
D) Age: 45 Years
5. Scientist – D (2 Posts)
A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs. 15,600 - 39,100 + 7,600 G.P
B) Essential Qualifications:
M.Sc. / B.V.Sc /M.B.B.S /B.Tech /B.E. or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 7 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas
Ph.D. /M.V.Sc. / M.Tech. or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 2 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas.
C) Responsibilities: To work as a part of integrative team to create knowledge and develop technologies for improving animal health and productivity.
D) Age: 40 Years
6. Scientist C/B (4 Posts)
Scientist – C
A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs. 15,600- 39,100 + 6,600 G.P
B) Essential Qualifications:
M.Sc. / B.V.Sc /M.B.B.S /B.Tech /B.E. or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 5 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas
OR
Ph.D. /M.V.Sc. / M.Tech. or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications.
C) Responsibilities: To work as a part of integrative team to conduct experiments in the specified area.
D) Age: 35 Years
Scientist – B
A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs. 15,600- 39,100 + 5,400 G.P
B) Essential Qualifications:
M.Sc. /B. Tech./ M.B.B.S/ B.V.Sc / B. Pharm or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognized University with outstanding academic record.
C) Responsibilities: To work as a part of integrative team to conduct experiments in the specified area.
D) Age: 30 Years
General Conditions:
1. All the positions carry usual allowances as admissible to Central Government Employees of the same pay and status posted at Hyderabad. Higher initial start may be considered in deserving cases.
2. The number of vacancies advertised against each category is provisional and may vary at the time of selection.
3. It may be possible to consider appointments with one grade lower than the grade advertised (in the same group) depending upon the recommendations of the Selection Committee.
4. Designations of various posts may change.
5. Mere fulfilling minimum qualification will not entitle a candidate for being called for interview. The applications will be screened by a Committee and shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. The decision of the Controlling Authority will be final in this respect.
6. Applications from employees working in Government Departments, Public Sector Undertakings and Government funded research agencies will be considered only if forwarded through proper channel
and with a clear certificate that the applicant will be relieved within one month of the receipt of appointment order.
7. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence, political or otherwise will automatically disqualify the candidate for the post.
8. Age limits shall be reckoned as on the closing date for receipt of application.
9. Reservations as per the Government of India norms in respect of SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped/Ex-serviceman etc., will apply.
10. The maximum age prescribed for a post is to be reckoned in the case of SC/ST/OBC/Ex-service persons/Physically Handicapped persons, with relaxations as admissible under the Central Government rules. Other prevailing concessions for these categories will also be observed.
11. Reservation for Physically handicapped persons in accordance with section 33 of Disabilities Act, 1995 will apply.
12. Experience for the positions mentioned in the advertisement will be reckoned from the date of acquiring the qualification prescribed for the position.
13. The specifications in respect of experience, educational qualifications and age may be relaxed by the Controlling Authority at its discretion, in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
14. Candidates called for test / interview will be paid single second class rail fare from the actual place of undertaking the journey or from the normal place of residence whichever is nearer to Secunderabad Railway Station on production of relevant document of travel. However, reservation and sleeper charges and surcharge on superfast trains will be admitted if requisite ticket / receipt etc., is submitted as proof of having actually incurred the expenses. In the absence of valid details in the TA claim, the surcharges, etc., will not be allowed.
15. Incomplete applications and/or the applications received after the last date are not likely to be considered and no interim enquiries will be attended to.
16. Candidates may apply through Online Submission System. Downloaded applications duly completed and supported by attested copies of certificates, testimonials and Caste Certificate in the case of SC/ST/OBC candidates and Disability Certificate in the case of Physically Handicapped candidates issued by the competent authority, duly superscribing the name of the post in bold letters along with non-refundable application fee of Rs. 100/- (US $ 25 in case of candidates applying from abroad) by means of DD (issued by State Bank of India only except for the candidates applying from abroad) valid up to 3 or more months, drawn in favour of National Institute of Animal Biotechnology payable at Hyderabad University Campus branch, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, INDIA should be sent to Officer-on-Special Duty (OSD), National Institute of Animal Biotechnology, Visiting Scholars House, Lake View Guest House, University of Hyderabad Campus, Prof. C.R. Rao Road, Gachibowli, Hyderabad-500 046 on or before 23rd April, 2012.
17. No fee for SC/ST, physically handicapped, and woman candidates. Remaining candidates are required to pay the application fee.
18. Separate application with the DD has to be made for each position applied.
