Walk-in interview
The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoE&F), Government of India in the field of teaching, training and research. The Institute wishes to engage one Senior Project Assistant through a walk-in-interview to be held on Tuesday, 7th February 2012 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. The details of the available position along with essential and desirable qualifications, terms and conditions and how to apply are given below:
PROJECT TITLE: GBIF Project “Capacity Building in Biodiversity Informatics”.
DETAILS OF POSITION: (01– Senior Project Assistant)
DURATION: One year.
 ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION
 Masters Degree in Wildlife Science/Life Science/Environmental Science with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.
 DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION
 Minimum of two years of experience on ecological study of terrestrial wildlife, basic knowledge of camera trapping, comprehensive knowledge of the flora and fauna of Terai-Bhabar landscape. Should be proficient in MS-Excel and database management.
 DESCRIPTION OF WORK
 Compilation of camera trap photos over the years, digitization of these photographs in prescribed format using data publishing toolkits, maintaining the database, data management and preparing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.
 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
1.    Candidate for the position of Senior Project Assistant should be below 32 years on 31st January, 2012 and the upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women and physically handicapped categories.
2.    The selected candidate for the position of Senior Project Assistant will be paid consolidated emoluments of Rs. 14,000/- per month + HRA (as admissible).
3.    Engagement on the above positions will be purely on a temporary basis initially and may be extended for further period depending upon the requirement and the tenure of project/cell.
4.    Selected candidates may be allowed hostel accommodation at the institute, as per availability. Where the hostel accommodation is not possible, house rent allowance (HRA) will be paid as per the rules of the Institute subject to the condition that HRA payable, in no case, shall be more than the rates payable to Central Govt./WII Employee(s) in that area. Other allowances and benefits to the research personnel would be admissible as per the rules of the Institute, amended from time to time.
5.    The selection of the candidates will be based on the Walk-in-interview to be held on 7th February 2012 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. The registration of candidates will begin by 14:00 hrs onwards.
6.    Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.
7.    Candidates should bring the duly filled-in applications with attested true copies of testimonials of educational qualifications, research experience, extracurricular activities, date of birth etc., along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration.
8.    Application Form without enclosures and/or incomplete in any respect shall be liable to rejection.
9.    One way travel expenses will be paid to the selected candidate, upon joining the Institute and producing the proof of journey ‘tickets’. The expense will be limited to actual 2nd class rail/bus fare by the shortest route to Dehra Dun from his/her place of stay/residence.
10.  The Institute will not provide accommodation for candidates appearing for the interview.
11.  The application form can be downloaded from the Institute’s website www.wii.gov.in.
12.  The Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete information provided by the candidate or for any other reason.
