POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Applications are invited for the following purely temporary posts in the DBT funded project under CoE, Centre for Computational Biology & Bioinformatics (CCBB) at School of Computational & Integrative Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University.
1. Systems Analyst (Linux/ HPC system administrator profile) : 1 post
(Consolidated Salary: Rs. 33000/- p.m.)
Age limit: 35 years
Essential Qualifications:
a) B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc. in Computer Science/Information Technology or MCA with graduation in science subjects/ computer applications. .
b) Minimum 2 years full time relevant work experience in Linux system administration or High performance computing(HPC) under Linux environment. Solid knowledge and experience of Linux is a must.
Desirable Qualifications: Experience and knowledge about parallel or distributed computing environments used for scientific computing, Experience with batch schedulers and queue optimization; Experience with high performance networking equipment and cabling requirements, system design, and implementation, Storage technologies such as SAN, SAS, FC, SATA, etc.
Job Descriptions: Perform routine system administration tasks such as OS installation, patching, backups, upgrades and system restarts for HPC clusters, servers & workstations. Perform routine hardware and software installation as needed. Hardware and software troubleshooting/ co-ordination with other departments/vendors to make the clusters / servers run continuously, Maintaining software best practices for lab PCs of the School. This position may require flexible timings/weekend/holiday support and response to emergency situations to resolve problems.
Higher salary may be considered for Higher qualifications and experienced person. Award of annual increment will be subjected to satisfactory performance.
2. Programmer /Senior Technical Assistant: 1 post
(Consolidated Salary: Rs. 22000/- p.m.)
Age limit: 32 years
Essential Qualifications:
a) B.E./ B.Tech./ M.Sc. in Computer Science/ Information Technology or MCA with graduation in science subjects/computer applications.
b) Minimum 1 year full time relevant work experience in Website design/ hosting on Linux platform. Coding / modification of websites using JSP, java, mysql , apache, tomcat.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience in php, oracle, and content management system such as JOOMLA is a plus. Apart from good programming skills, the candidates should have expertise in some of the following areas: Network maintenance and administration, Experience in LINUX and WINDOWS, In- House LAN maintenance, Servers & PCs maintenance and administration. Experience in Bioinformatics related application will be considered favorably.
Job Description: Any IT related duties as assigned. Devolving and maintenance of several research related portals, installation of SW related to CCBB research projects.
3. Programmer /Senior Technical Assistant: 1 post

Age limit: 32 years
Essential Qualifications:
a) B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc. in Computer Science/Information Technology or MCA with graduation in science subjects/ computer applications.
b) Minimum 1 year full time relevant work experience in one or more key programming languages for high performance computing such as C, C++, java, PHP, Perl, Linux shell scripting and application development environments relevant to supercomputing programming.
Desirable Qualifications: Experience in parallel programming (MPI) will be considered favorably. Apart from good programming skills, the candidates should have expertise in some of the following areas: Network maintenance and administration, Experience in LINUX and WINDOWS, In- House LAN maintenance, Servers & PCs maintenance and administration.
Job Description: Any IT related duties as assigned. Support and help to develop parallel programming , training for researchers in parallel programming , Java ,PHP ,Perl etc.
4. Computer Lab Assistant : 1 post
(Consolidated Salary 11500/- p.m.)
Age limit: 28 years
Essential Qualifications:
1) 10th pass with Science and Mathematics subjects.
2) Polytechnic engineering diploma in Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics
3) Minimum 1 year full time relevant post-qualification work experience in computer hardware or computer networking.
Job Description:
Duties involve upkeep/maintenance/installation/record-keeping/proper connectivity with respect to computer/printer/projector/laptop/server/UPS/networking equipment and any other duties as may be assigned by Dean - SC & IS from time to time. This position may require flexible timings/weekend/holiday support and response to emergency situations to resolve problems. One off day in a week will be admissible.
These positions are completely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The initial appointment will be for a period of one year but may be extended based on performance. CCBB, JNU may select candidates against the post depending upon qualification and experience of candidates and reserves the right to relax any of the qualifications in case the candidate is found otherwise well qualified by the Selection Committee. Higher qualifications may be considered or debarred by the short listing committee at its discretion. Relevant experience/ equivalent qualification will be considered as per the decision of the short listing committee on the matter. If necessary further short listing may be done on the basis of higher work experience or qualification or percentage of marks in essential qualifications or a combination of these to restrict the no. of candidates called for the interview or a written test may be conducted to shortlist the candidates for the interview. Qualifications / Relevant experience will be counted as on closing date of the advertisement.
Experience should be post-qualification and not a part of Academic projects/ training.
