POST: Technical/Scientific Officer for AVRDC-The World Vegetable Center
ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationalsfor the post of Technical/Scientific Officer for AVRDC-The World Vegetable Center, to work in the breeding and development programs of the Center, to be based at its office at ICRISAT Headquarters, Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India. This is a nationally recruited position.
About AVRDC:  The World Vegetable Center is a nonprofit, autonomous international agricultural research center with headquarters in Taiwan and regional offices around the globe. The Center conducts research and development programs that contribute to improved incomes and diets in the developing world.
ABOUT ICRISAT: ICRISAT is a non-profit, apolitical, international organization for science-based agricultural development. Established in 1972, it is an Alliance of centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), and supported by more than 48 governments, foundations, and development banks. To reduce poverty, enhance crop productivity and food security and to protect the environment, ICRISAT research focuses on farming systems and crop improvement, management and utilization of sorghum, pearl millet, pigeon pea, chickpea, and groundnut in the semi-arid tropics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conduct of laboratory, glasshouse and field experiments
2. Undertake plant hybridization activities  
3. Data collection and collation and maintenance of database
4. Assist in the preparation of research reports
5. Conduct work activities as part of a multidisciplinary team
REQUIREMENTS: MSc in plant breeding & genetics/ plant breeding or related field with good academic record; experience in plant hybridization activities; strong written and verbal communication skills, fluent in written and spoken English; Excellent computer skills.

GENERAL: The position is initially for one year, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the Institute's continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.
