Walk-in-Interview for the position of Project Assistants under externally funded projects

DATE OF WALK IN INTERVIEW: 15th & 16st December, 2011
REPORTING TIME: 8.30 A.M.
Candidates who fulfill the below mentioned age, educational qualifications and experience etc. may step in for WALK-IN-INTERVIEW at Auditorium, CSIR-CSIO, Sector-30-C, Chandigarh as per the following Schedule. Engagement will be purely on temporary basis which is co-terminus with the completion of the project.
1.NAME & NOS. OF POSTS: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) (01)
PROJECT TITLE: DST sponsored Project: “Stand-off Detection of Explosives based on Immunochemical Techniques”
DURATION OF PROJECT: Upto September 2014 or till completion of the project which ever is earlier
MAXIMUM AGE (AS ON DATE OF INTERVIEW): 28 Years
STIPEND (PER MONTH)[CONSOLIDATED]: Rs.16,000/- p.m. + 20% HRA
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE: 1st Class M.Sc. in Life Sciences / Chemical Science / Environmental Science or equivalent and NET qualified.

2.NAME & NOS. OF POSTS: Project Assistant Level -II (01)
PROJECT TITLE: DIT sponsored Project: “Development of PC Based Fully Automatic Batch Analyser for Clinical Chemistry” (GAP-0282)
DURATION OF PROJECT: Upto September 2012 or till completion of the project which ever is earlier
MAXIMUM AGE (AS ON DATE OF INTERVIEW):28 Years
STIPEND (PER MONTH)[CONSOLIDATED]: Rs.8,000/-

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE: 1st Class M.Sc. Bio-Chemistry / Chemistry
Desirable: Candidates having Knowledge of preparation of blood samples with reagents and operation & methodology of Clinical Chemistry Analysers shall be preferred.

3. 1.NAME & NOS. OF POSTS: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) (01)
PROJECT TITLE: DST sponsored Project: “Development of a Biosensor for Estimation of Polyphenols in Apple Juice” GAP-0301
DURATION OF PROJECT: Upto July 2013 or till completion of the project which ever is earlier
MAXIMUM AGE (AS ON DATE OF INTERVIEW): 28 Years
STIPEND (PER MONTH)[CONSOLIDATED]: Rs.16,000/- p.m. + 20% HRA
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE: 1st Class M.Sc. / M.Tech. in Chemistry / Biochemistry / Nanotechnology. Candidate with NET / GATE preferred.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:-
1. The engagement as a Project Assistant in the projects is purely on temporary basis maximum for the period of duration of the project. However, engagement will initially be offered for the period of one year or till the project tenure / completion of project which ever is earlier. In case the tenure of the project is more than one year the same will be extended on yearly basis till the duration of the project depending on the satisfactory performance of the incumbent. The engagement can be terminated by either side by giving one month’s notice OR stipend in lieu thereof. Total duration of project assistantship in CSIR Laboratories is maximum 5 years. Therefore, if an incumbent switches between the projects, the appointment will terminate on the day he/she completes 5 years as a Project Assistant. It is not a CSIR-CSIO appointment and will not confer any right on the incumbent to any claim implicit or explicit on any position. The number of positions may vary.
2. Leave: Project Assistant will be entitled for one day leave for each completed month’s service.
3. The candidates those engaged against CSIR Network Project /Supra Institutional Project are eligible for annual increment of 10% of consolidated stipend based on review of their annual performance on submission of Work Report. Their performance will be evaluated by Standing Committee for increase in their annual stipend.
4. Reservation: As regards reservation, if all things are equal, SC/ST/OBC candidates may be given preference over General candidates so as to ensure their representation.
5. TA/DA: Project Assistant engaged at Levels II, III & IV during official tour, will be entitled for TA/DA as per CSIR rules, and those at Level-I based on the rates worked out on the basis of stipend paid, at par with regular employees drawing comparable emoluments.
6. Medical Facilities: Project Assistants will not be entitled for any medical facilities either through CSIR-CSIO Dispensaries or under CS (MA) Rules. However, under emergent circumstances, Labs./Instt. may give emergency treatment/consultation through CSIR-CSIO Dispensaries, but they will not be eligible for reimbursement of medical expenses.
7. Registration for Ph.D: The Project Assistant will not be allowed to register himself/herself for Ph.D. But Project Assistant may be encouraged to qualify NET/GATE examination; so that on getting fellowship he/she registers himself/herself for Ph.D and in that event he will have to resign as Project Assistant.
8. There would be no component of HRA; increment etc. for Project Assistants except engaged under NWP / SIP projects and the consolidated remuneration to be paid to Project Assistants may be called “Stipend”.
9. Candidate should possess the required educational qualification / experience as on date of interview.
10. Candidate should consciously choose only one position in the area for which his/her candidature is suitable.
11. Mode of Selection: In case a large number of candidates turn up, the candidates will be shortlisted for interview by the respective Screening/Selection Committee. Only the short-listed candidates will be interviewed by the Selection Committee. The Panel so prepared will be utilized for engagement as Project Assistants as and when requirement arises
