The Training Course is mainly intended for the candidates who are already in regular service and teaching and/or guiding research in Ethnobotany and related fields. The number of trainees is limited to 40 and selection would be made on the merit of the applicant. Upper age limit for trainee is 45 years (May be relaxed in special case).

Gwalior is well connected by all types of transport. It lies on New Delhi-Chennai main railway line of North Central Railway. All Mail/ superfast trains stop at Gwalior and one gets the connection for all corners of the country. Air India operates its daily flight from Delhi- Mumbai-Delhi via Gwalior. The organizers shall make stay arrangements of participants in the University Campus and adjacent guest houses. For those who want to stay in hotels shall have to pay for their stay. Gwalior has many reasonable and decent hotels. The rooms can be booked on request and payment of advance tariff.

Bioinformatics National Certification (BINC)Examination 2012


BIOINFORMATICS NATIONAL CERTIFICATION EXAMINATION 2012
JNU New Delhi, on behalf of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, will conduct the BINC examination on February 25-26, 2012. The objective of this examination is to certify bioinformatics professionals, trained formally as well as self-trained. Registration is open from 14-11-2011 to 03-02-2012. JNU New Delhi has been identified as a nodal agency by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India to coordinate this examination along with six centres namely, Pune University, Pune; Anna University, Chennai; Calcatta University (WBUT) Kolkata; Institute of Bioinformatics & Applied Biotechnology, Bangalore; North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong and University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad. In the BINC 2011 examination, 722 candidates appeared out of which 35 candidates were certified. This year DBT has agreed to fund Research fellowships for all the BINC qualified Indian nationals to pursue Ph.D. in Indian Institutes/Universities. Note that the candidate must possess a postgraduate degree(or equivalent) & meet the criteria of the institutes/universities in order to avail research fellowship. In addition, cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- will be awarded to the top 10 BINC qualifiers.
ELIGIBILITY
Graduate and above degrees in Science, Agriculture, Veterinary, Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering & Technology are eligible to appear in the examination. They need not have any formal training viz., certificate, diploma or degree in Bioinformatics. Students in final year of Bachelor &apos s degree are also eligible to apply. International students are also eligible to apply.
